Hi there, have been away from GT for a while & have actually only ever seen a PSP in the showcase @ WalMart.

Question #1: Can TWO (or More) PSPs be directly "Linked" together (like we used to do w/GT3 & I-Link)???

Question #2: To do the "AdHoc" deal, do you need to run thru a PS3 or can you go right thru a PC???

THANKS in Advance, & YES, I searched & counldn't find answers. "SER"

Yes; at the moment, that's the only form of communication for GT PSP, though. Later a guide will be posted on how to get it running over the net, if you fancy that.

No, the ad-hoc code redemptions can/should be done directly on your PSP. I don't see much of a reason why they wouldn't work on a PS3 though, if the PSP was hooked-up. But I don't quite see the point...

I hope that helps!

I think he meant ad-hoc party. In that case, yes you need to run it through a PS3. I have heard of something called X link kai or something for PC but idk a lot about it.

Whoah whoah whoah whoah... There's some misconceptions running about up in here...

"Ad Hoc" mode is where a PSP is linked directly to another. "Infrastructure" is where a PSP is linked to a network point (which can include a PSP).

In Ad Hoc mode, the PSP can link with others with GT Mobile, without any other device involved, and play. So, to answer the questions:

Yes. Up to 4 can be directly linked together in Ad Hoc mode without any intermediary devices.

Question #2: To do the "AdHoc" deal, do you need to run thru a PS3 or can you go right thru a PC???

No. Ad Hoc mode only requires a PSP and another PSP.

So has it been confirmed yet if you can play this through X-Link Kai?

I seriously doubt it. To connect to a network point, like a router, PC or PS3, the PSP needs to be in infrastructure mode. GT Mobile doesn't support online play in infrastructure mode, only ad hoc mode.

Indeed. It requires "Ad Hoc Party for PSP" installed on the PS3. Then the PSP/PSP ad hoc connection is replaced by a PSP/PS3 ad hoc connection and you can play GTMobile over the internets.

Actually, this is incorrect. Both Ad Hoc Party and Xlink Kai fool the PSP into thinking it's connected directly to another PSP. These programs are not needed for games that have native "infrastructure" modes built in, such as SOCOM. I use Xlink Kai to play ad hoc only PSP titles online all the time, so most likely Xlink will work just fine to play GT.

With that said, let me just say that Xlink Kai is not user-friendly in any way, shape, or form. It can be a real challenge to get it up and running, but once it's configured correctly is works well enough. I will try out GT on Xlink shortly and let you guys know how it goes. :sly:
