QUICK MATCH SPEC II

Ive been reading a lot of feedback regarding the quick match & it seems that some like it, some dont, some think it could have more of this or that.
So, seen as I have a reasonably good Internet connection I was planning a little test room (hence the title) just to see if players would take to it.

Just like QM rooms it would be 1 track for 1 day with the default car categories that are available within the online lobby options, GT500, JGTC, LMP, GT300 blah blah, no tuning allowed, all aids off except abs, no boost, slipstream real, 3 laps, race start every 2mins, voice chat enabled, penalties light, damage light.

It could work well & I encourage others that moaned about the QM to try the same thing with there own selection in there own lobbys.

The only problem with this is I cant race / monitor the races all day as I have 2 kids & a job, but as long as I get the room started with a few racers / races then it might become self sufficient for a good few hours.

If this is in the wrong place fellas I do apologise as its just an idea regarding making QM a little less full of idiots that want to ram & not race.

2 problems with that is.

1. If someone starts ramming people I cant kick em.
2. If all people leave the room & the race timer reaches 0 then it needs resetting manually.

Sorry to bump this after so long, but i am toying with the general idea too.

You could set up a club and fill it with events that resemble the quick matches, or even shamelessly copy them from the QuickMatch events. Then everybody who has joined the club could open a room and wait for other racers. And there is the problem -- there won't be any, most of the time. You don't get connected automatically to other racers.

One thing i tried was open a room in the GTPlanet community club lobby (Karts at Kart Space), made it open for everyone, and got 5-8 people in 5 min. We drove 2-3 races, the guys crashing and going the wrong way quit after the first few races, and there were 2-3 racers left. It's still fun but not the QuickMatch 'crowded race fun'/'crash derby annoyance' medal.

So i value the job of the hosts and organizers of the online clubs, leagues and series, because they baby all the racers to join events at predetermined times and make online racing enjoyable, because i wouldn't have the time to do it myself.
