Hi guys. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the full game will be restricted to regions for online multiplayer? Or are they going to make it global?

Also, how is the online netcode these days? I remember it being quite poor when GT5P first came out. But has it improved at all since then?

Well, I think its done in regions currently, three i believe. Europe, Asia and America. But, I could be wrong, I don't play online as much as some of the people on here.

The online play hasn't improved at all.

It is still just as horrible.

It takes around 5 or 6 minutes to actually get into a race.

Your answers will come in 1 week! 👍

Online implementation is BY FAR my largest concern for GT 5 :nervous:

PD's online track record is - Promise online for GT 4 then fail to deliver, then when we finally get to play GT online in GT 5P it was one of the worst online experiences imaginable:yuck:

*** Prays for a Miracle ***

Online is OK once you get into a race, which yeah it does take 5 minutes. It is pretty smooth for the most part, until you run into someone, then they go flying off the track like 2 seconds after you hit them.

I really can't see they changing online any. Alot of people have stopped playing GT5 Prologue, that is why it takes along time to get into a race! When GT5 hits there will be alot more players!!!

I think online will be both for GLOBAL and RESTRICTED.
Online at first when it came out was very jaggy with lag , last time I play it was super smooth. Way smoother over FM2 which is FULL game, so that tells you something.

How does the PSN network work? Is there a friends list or anything that the game can use?

Yes there is a friends list although system update v3.00 made it look fairly ugly.

GT5P has a fairly linear online experience, basically you pick which type of race you want to enter, 750pp etc (pp is similar to Forzas performance index rating), then the matchmaking begins... which can take a bit long nowadays. After that the race begins.

The main thing that gets me is that there is no lobby system implemented into it, but from the article from PDs website that was taken down, it looks like this will be a feature in GT5.

Basically the rest of the PSN is the same as XBL, other then the fact that its free and there is no cross game chat :sly:

No cross game VOICE chat, but you can have a CHAT room that you can type via the PS3 controller, any USB keyboard, or the PS3 controller keyboard. With this feature, you can tell your friend to join a race NOW and he or she will be racing at the same time..

With other games, it aslo depends on a game, you can join your friend just by clicking on his or her name in game friends list..

Yes It's just like Xbox live almost, but no cros game voice chat.. who uses that feature anyway? when you play online, get serious with game you play, not with someone that plays some other game. We have PHONES or Cellphones for that stuff ; )
