Quick question about the power limiter

With the ability to use the power limiter if you needed to keep your total hp below a certain level, would it be useful to do all the upgrades (which ise to put you way over the max hp) then restrict to the proper HP? Or does it make a difference???

Also, if the answer is do the upgrades and restrict, should the turbos be consider for this as well?

I think nobody knows (yet).

It make a sense that lvl3 turbo then limiting the power change the powerband to higher rpm punch though...

Let's say you have a car 719 HP.
In online racing the limit is 700 HP.
When you put smalest turbo your power goes to 685 HP.

With the new update you can limit your car exactly to 700 HP with your big turbo... :D

In some online races yesterday the cars that were in front seemed to always be the ones with hp limiter used for downtuning. I'm not really sure but i got to suspecting that overtuning and then downtuning with hp limitter for the race is better than having a car naturally peak at the hp limit of the race.

The cars have a flat power band where the limiter kicks in so if a high performance car is in the 700HP range between 5500-8000RPM and has a peak of 800HP at 7200RPM, and you set the limit at 700HP, the curve between 5500-8000RPM flattens so the car has a solid 700HP available in that range, it's gonna kick the crap out of anything else that can only peak at 700HP at 6200RPM.

I haven't messed around with that yet since Bob is running the 24hr of Le Mans but you do have a point. Add that fact to now individually adjustable gears and... :embarrassed:

Yep, in the case of power-limited rooms rather than PP-limited rooms, cutting power is the fast way; you can have the car make the power cap from as low as 3000rpm all the way to the rev limiter in some cases. In said cases it IS best to shift earlier (more torque + same horsepower = you go faster) though.

PP however takes into account peak torque as well as peak power; as a result, the fastest (i.e most powerful) engine setup will have very little cut off.

For HP rooms, sure, it's better to use the limiter.
For PP system, it's better not to.

It's better to use the limiter to a small extent. The "best" way is to use all of the maximum RPM increasing bits (race exhaust, cat, ECU) and avoid engine tuning, intake mods, and turbo/superchargers unless absolutely necessary to get the PP up to wherever you need it. Less torque = you can run higher power output = faster. Having about 1500rpm of constant peak power is extremely useful and will pull much harder than 5-6hp more at peak and 10hp less on either side of it.

In my hp limited rooms I definitely see power limited cars having a huge advantage. Guess I'll have to switch to hosting PP rooms.
