I had an awesome dream that I was playing GT6 online with my friends....but we were playing the single player events. The whole field was friends, not a single CPU opponent.

So my question is...... Has this feature (CoOp play) been announced, requested, planed?

That doesn't actually sound like a bad idea. Instead of it counting towards "A-Spec" progression, just offer it as a sort of preset (as well as a full set of tools to make your own) for online play. It basically comes under better online rules, filtering etc., which we all want anyway.

People would take advantage of this and boost their way through the hard races, one would smash the cars and the other would get an easy win, unless they give some serious penalty punishment, so probably no.

Why would that be a problem for you? It's their game, they can play how they want.

No. Not a good idea. I don't want people invading my game. If it was optional, then I don't mind.

Why would they force co-op?

It's not like the races were hard in GT5, 95% of them would allow you to drive an overpowered car and all of them allowed you to use soft race tires only a few races came anywhere near being a challenge, those being the ones that forced you to drive a car that was on par with the field but even then the SR tires gave you a huge advantage as well as possible advantages from having your car run in and with a fresh oil change resulting in the player having a more powerful car with better grip.

Co Op would be cool and who cares if some people want to play in such a way as to smash the AI while their friend goes for the win.

Would definitely be more fun racing career events if our friends could join in the races and would make them a lot more challenging.

Why would they force co-op?

What about randoms smashing your car on the last lap for the win? Pretty annoying, not to mention if you play an endurance co-op and your partner suddenly lags, making it unplayable for you, keep dreaming of co-op but you won't see it in gran turismo anytime soon.

What randoms? Why would co-op be random? OP was talking about playing with friends. Lag/disconnects of course could be problems but that doesn't stop other games featuring co-op. I'm not dreaming of co-op but your reasons for not including it are odd.

I misunderstood. I thought that OP was talking about an online A-Spec mode. Like completely replacing A.I with real players.

Other games don't have 4hrs-24hrs races, i'm just saying, there would be issues in endurance, other races would be fine.

Yes that's exactly what I meant. I still don't understand why this would cause a problem. Lol the guys I race with are much faster than I. So completing ASPEC faster wasn't even a thought.

Yeah but most people would not do the long races online unless they were doing it in such a way that they were playing the part of different drivers in the same car so they could take turns and do the race.

Remember you can't pause online races, anything longer than 30 minutes is questionable and 4 hours is way to long to sit there without having a break for the bathroom or something to drink or whatever.

Most races in GT are not endurance races and all of them could have the option for Co Op or not so there really is no issue there.

Someone lagging out is a part of online gaming and seriously it does not happen that much or at least not if you have a good group to race with. out of the 10 or so people I run with on a regular basis only one has many lag issues and even then it rarely causes a problem with the races. Occasionally someone will get dropped from a race but not often enough that it is even worth worring about.

In real life drivers have mechanical failures on the cars that take them out of the race one could see lagging out as being the internets way of generating a race ending mechanical failure

Building on the OP's idea, one thing I've wanted to try for a while is adding AI players to an online track day - or maybe your own B Spec drivers. They could drive/test your cars, gain practice and level up. Having AI driving my cars would be good for me because I like to do photoshoots with multiple cars - it'd be a great way of totting up the numbers if a few friends can't make it. But yeah, co-op racing with friends against AI would be a feature I would love to try.

Combining this with PP, bad idea. You'll get people doing seasonal events with a 300pp car, and end up beating 600pp cars to get millions for a prize.

Let's hypothetically apply this back with GT5. Now, I'm Joe Bob Gamer and I've made it through most of the easier A-Spec events, but I'm really struggling to stand a chance in the Formula GT event. I have an idea! I'll just get a bunch of my buddies to fill out the grid, and then have them let me win. Congratulations to me on getting gold through all of the FGT races with absolutely no effort on my part! Thanks to my buddies for making it possible for me to win an event that I otherwise would've had absolutely no chance at.

I want singleplayer and multiplayer events kept separate. "I don't get how it affects you." It's just a matter of principle, I suppose. I want "Hey, I won such-and-such" to represent some sort of accomplishment, which it doesn't if we can go into a race wherein all the other cars just sit there waiting on me to win. It's like you pick all the stickers off of a Rubix cube, put them back on such that all sides are of matching colors, and then boasting that you solved the Rubix cube. Me doing it on my own without peeling the stickers off and without looking up directions is an accomplishment, while removing and replacing stickers is not. I don't want them counted as equal.
