How did you post this with down internet? nvm, also a stupid question.

Turn your PS3 off, unplug the ethernet cable from it.

Or, unplug your wireless base if that's what you have.

Sorry, I mean my wireless connection is down.
I do not have a long enough Ethernet cable to run to the ps3, as that's in the living room. The pc is in the bedroom. I need to get a new wireless router but i wanted to know, can i play without signing into the ps network.

You can play the game but you can't do anything internet related, like uploading Time Trial times, racing online, downloading videos, etc. Prologue is not an "online only" game like some of them out there.

Actually, thats wrong. When I open the game, it immediately says "sign into Ps network". The only option is circle to go back.

I have tried turning the internet connection off to try and get around it, but that doesnt work

You cant play without beeing signed in the PSN (with the download version).
I think this has something to do with copy protection.

That actually makes a lot of sense.

I feel for you OP... but this is exactly the reason why I always want a physical disc...

G.T.Ace is correct, you have to be connected to the PSN, to play the downloaded version and as far as I am aware there is no way to bypass this, sorry.

This is simple, you can't play GT5P because you bought it in the PSN with a PSN name and credit card. If the system can't verify that you are the owner (the only method is by connecting the PS3 to PSN), then it wouldn't allow you to enter the game.

he is correct. When i bought my Ps3 it was late and the place didn't have gt5 prologue. So at home at night i figured i would Download the game of the PSN. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! I was so pissed when my internet was down due to a storm and i couldn't sign into PSN, therefore i could not play GT5p. If i would have known that was the case i would have NEVER downloaded it, and would have waited to buy the disk. PD or Sony should supply/send-out discs to the people who paid for the downloaded game so we are not stuck without internet connection. (yes i know i'm dreaming :indiff:)

Why should they? You must have read and agreed to the small print before downloading? If not, that's your fault.
