Quick Tuning Chart

Incorrect. For someone who doesn't understand what toe or camber does, I think this chart would help them. 💡 Never said this was the holy grail. Try not to presume to know what is and is not useful for the whole community, ok?
 
Anyone else notice the fact that the suspension settings in this game are BACKWARDS? Lower settings = stiffer!? For example, the default settings for my M3 have the rear settings higher than the front, despite the car being heavier in the front (granted, the M3 is like 51/49, but it would make no sense for the rear to be stiffer than the front, regardless).

So, I began messing with the settings (which do not have anywhere near the effect that they should, as extreme adjustments only net vague changes in car behavior :(), and to my confusion, increasing the Kgf/mm nets the opposite result it should. With the rear settings set to max, and the front set to min, the car understeers. With the opposite, it oversteers! Now, assuming this backwards system works the way it does, which is ridiculous, the effects of these extreme settings is so slight in terms of how it changes the behavior of the car that it's almost pointless to even tune!

LSD and center diff settings seem very vague in effect as well, and on some cars (like the EVO X), don't even seem to function at all. On my EVO X, increasing the rear accel setting, even all the way to full lock, won't step the rear out at all on corner exit (EVEN WITH THE CENTER DIFF SET TO 90% REAR!). WTF is wrong with this game?!?!?!?!?!?!? How can I be the only person who has noticed this?

I'd assume GT somehow factors in the motion ratio of the suspension links. Just because the spring rate is higher in the rear doesn't necessarily mean that the rear suspension is stiffer. This is because the suspension geometry is usually different between the front and rear, which therefore effects the leverage between the spring and the control arms. Unfortunately GT doesn't share this info with us, which makes tuning spring rates extremely difficult.
 
This is my first post on these forums ,so pardon me if this has been sugested already. Maybe some of the tuners on these forums could make a simple (form) with settings and car builds. People could view how settings are used and try the tunes out. Feedback could be given about how the tunes feel and perform. Tuners could give advice to new tuners, I just think it could be a good way to get more people involved. just a thought i was having :)
 
The chart is a little hard to read but it does give some idea of whats going on. I just found this site today and have found some helpful suggestions (fireblade transmission info for example). I shall return here often!

Maybe you're just not tuning right. The spring rate is in relationship with mass and weight distribution, so you can't say one is stiffer than the other just by observing the values shown. Furthermore, LSD adjustments are harder to perceive because you can't actually feel the surge or lack of it, anyhow it becomes pretty evident when you tune for drift cars, it makes a world of difference!

Lastly, what tires were you using?!!?!? Drastic changes in tunes can induce either heavy over or under-steer or no steer at all. You ought to start your tunes with hard sports tires, because changes made can actually be made perceivable, otherwise slicks will only mask the actual set up of the suspension making them redundant. When they wear, you realize your bag of talent isn't so full after all.

A car should still be poised and taut even when it's tires are worn, otherwise you're better off leaving the settings stock.
