I have a couple of music singles with video clips on them and I want to store the music vids on my HD. The thing is that they are in Quicktime Movie Format (.mov). I can easily install Quicktime to play these but I don't want to. Is there a program that can convert .mov to other movie formats like .mpg or .avi?

Yeah - but I won't even use it. I'll use it to play about 2 or 3 movies every now and then. Complete waste of HD space.

yep - a real waste of hard disk space

Still one more thing bogging down the registry. I went through the registry a couple nights ago getting rid of stuff I don't have on my comp. I also went into Add/Remove Programs and got rid of a lot of stuff. Pissed off about 2gigs.

Then if I feel like watching them again...

I certainly ain't gonna install QT, watch the vid then unistall all the time.

Heh, and you download all of the **** software to do things that Windows can already do by itself but, you won't install Quicktime? Quicktime is more legit than all of that **** software combined.

I cleaned out all of that.

I don't want to download a video player just to play a few videos every now and then.

The only way to play .mov files is by using Quicktime. I do not believe there is a way to convert a Quicktime format to MPEG. They're just simply different.

I'm not certain but i think there is a plugin / upgrade somewhere to allow you to play MOV's in windows media player, i can't find it right now but I'm sure i had it once. It's not a MS product but I seem to remeber it from a while back. And certainly there is one to allow you to show MOV's in Internet Explorer, but again i can't find it right now.

I too don't like quicktime / real one player and all that lot, but because of the adware. And i know that you can get pop up killers but i don't trust those on my PC either.

Are you using Flash MX (I noticed your other post about Flash help)? Since Flash MX supports video, simply import the .mov file into a new flash document and preview the flash file in your browser. :)

Umm Quicktime Pro has the ability to export .mov files to avi but its $30 just for that plus the ability to save the files. Its retarded really... those are standard features that should be included in the free version.
