Hey guys, I been playing with diff and suspension settings for weeks now and I just can't fix the excessive understeer in my Nissan R33 GT-R V-Spec. I know it's 4WD and you can't get rid of it completely but I thought I could atleast make it turn instead of going straight on. I even tried a 100% factory fresh R33 and that handled like a FWD car... is it just a rubbish chassis or is there something in the settings I've missed?

it is for sure your suspension settings. What diff settings are you using. Ill run a couple of laps with one and let you know what i find. premium right?

If I recall correctly the R32 R33 and R34 all have heavy front ends which might require an aggressive tune. I would try a high front camber, open front diff, even or softer on the front sway bar setting, and shifting as much power as possible to the rear. I assume zero toe.

IMO don't use an LSD/TSCD on a GT-R. You'll lose all the fancy electronics that make the GT-R...same with the Evo. See if you can tweak the suspension without using the drivetrain mods and see if that helps.

Yes it is the Premium one, I have bought one of everything apart from the gearbox because I hate the sound of the straight cut gears, and thanks for doing a few laps.

I have it at 25/75 torque split, I tried 20/80 but that just made it incredibly tail happy and didn't fix the understeer, it just made it harder to drift out of a corner.

I shall try removing the adjustable diffs, but if that doesn't work, my current settings are:

Front Diff:
Initial Torque: 10
Accel sensitivity: 25
Decel sensitivity: 5

Rear Diff:
Initial Torque: 10
Accel sensitivity: 60
Decel sensitivity: 5

Centre Diff:
25/75

Suspension settings:

Front:
Ride height: -10mm
Spring Rate: 6.0
Dampers (extension): 4
Dampers (Compression): 4
Anti-Roll bars: 3
Camber angle: 3.0
Toe angle: -0.05

Rear:
Ride height: -10mm
Spring Rate: 12.8
Dampers (extension): 7
Dampers (Compression): 7
Anti-Roll bars: 5
Camber angle: 1.0
Toe angle: 0.00

Front brakes: 5
Rear brakes: 6

And downforce set to minimum (0 front, 3 rear)

I'd say "absolutely" but I might get accused of being RJs biggest fan...again. :embarrassed:

But you'll notice, no LSD/TSCD on that tune. The ATTESA is just that good.

Accused? Nah. Why accuse you of something that is fact? It's like accusing me of tuning cars.

Put torque diff to around 25 75 or 20 80

Just tried this guys setup: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=6027192

And it's a major improvement, infact I dare say this is the best handling GT-R I've driven! (yes better than the R35)

I'm glad you found what you were looking for. I would like to thank you for posting your setup you were trying and posting the solution you found; many more people can learn from your experience. As a bit of explanation the first thing I saw wrong with what you were trying was the front end being extremely soft. Making the front so soft made the front very lazy; the front had grip but wasn't responding to input fast enough to make use of the grip. I could go on but this isn't the place for it.
