Race modification for all cars

great idea but the workload would be impractical

you are effectively asking for almost a doubling of models

they only made 17 in the last pre 6 game

i also find it fairly arcane... why not just make a "race car dealership" where you can buy ONLY race cars?

This could be lumped in with customization, but Im in favor of a race mod of every car. I think we should be able to choose what kind of race car we want to make. Maybe turn any car into a type of categorical race machine. For instance, BMW M4; option to make it into a 'touring car', 'DTM' or maybe a 'GT3'! This would bolster racing leagues with options to use your car for different types of racing.

yes this!^ It would be great if PD implemented some real life aspects on what racing mods are actually available to make for certain cars. I did not understand why the Z06 was RM to replica the ZR1 GTE form, If you know a bit about corvette racing, the Z06 only raced under GT1, and as GT3 regulations in which the former GT1 C6.R was an all round wide body Chassis. The ZR1 was the GTE(formerly GT2), which is the current TC C6.R chassis we see in the game. LOVED the ZR1 RM in GT5 I copied the specs from the GTE in the alms series, restricted the power but was such a sweet handling and predictable ride because of that.

This is exactly what I've been asking for, the ability to not just race mod a car, but to mod it to the specs of various racing leagues, even fantasy ones we define.

Johnnypenso also pointed out that it could potentially double the workload, or so, but while I'm not so sure about that, let's say it's true. Then PD should focus on a certain number of cars from various brands from Kia and Honda up to the supercars. We need compacts and hot hatches for leagues like America's SCCA and the BTCC for example. We need sports cars like the Mustang, Supra, 240SX, BMW, 300ZX and others for racing in the 250-350hp range such as FIA GT4 and WTCC. We need supercars such as the Corvettes, Vipers, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Jaguars, Aston Martins, BMWs, Mercedes-Benz and others for serious racing in GT3, GT2 Class, DTM and others. And I really want to see fantasy leagues such as an Asia GT league for example, where we can race the Hyundai Genesis, Kia Optima, Cizeta and Spirra with some yummy liveries.

While not quite to the same level, PD also needs to supply just about all the cars with at least wings and front splitters for customization.

People, please support this! Don't you want more options for online racing leagues?

Remember you could turn a Supra into a gt500 car in gt1 or 2? Or how you could turn your Viper GTS into the GTS-R? This isn't hard imo. Even going a bit further you can get into the aero parts. Splitter size, diffusers, rear wing positions... I think the ps4 is powerful enough to see stuff like this in gane and have it make a difference in performance. I just hope PD take a look at this instead of worrying about much of the other higher voted topics.

By the way, people, be sure and LIKE the first post. Liking the following posts in the thread is cool and all, but it doesn't count as a vote for the question.

I Guess the majority of players don't view this subject as that important, I suppose they reason "why not just buy race cars"? This could have influenced this features absence from GT6. I was gutted to see this option disappear, when it seemed it was at an infant stage and regaining it's legs in GT5 with the possibilities for expansion was merely a hope but now it's gone. It also does not help when GT6 is the second iteration of a GT game on a PS3, and adding "aero kits" is STILL merely for cosmetic changes.:irked:

I too! Damn sure hope that PD catches site of this thread.

I've said enough.

Dont forget the ones from GT1 and GT2. The ones not from GT1 and GT2(even Standards) will get a Race Mod Livery, Racing Splitter, Racing Spoiler, Lighter Rims, Rollcage, New Interior(Not for Standards) and New Steering Wheel(Not for Standards).

Wow... I'm really baffled that this isn't getting more attention. Don't you want your fave ride turned into a race car??

This needs several hundred more Likes!

Boy, I really need to get on with my day, but one more. Just one... famous last words.

Are race mods possible at all in GT6?
No, sadly, this was another feature that got dropped from GT5. All you can do is modify a car with racing parts, and a selection of aerokit parts that vary from car to car. It's not really the same thing, as you'll discover if you fully mod a Ford GT and then compare its handling to a Ford GT LM race car, which performs much better. It makes sense though, because a ton of technical work goes into creating a high performance race car.

Race Mod really, seriously needs to return to Gran Turismo, and hopefully some aspect in GT6.

Man... looking at the vote comparisons, I can't believe how few votes this thread is getting.

I think the board needs to consider some things. In the Premium car list, the number of race cars is quite limited in their various classes, and leagues represented. It's better if you include Standard cars, still not the best variety, plus I understand there is some dislike for the Standard race cars. In order to have a very large field, you'd have to have a jumble of cars from various leagues, from ALMS, FIA GT, Super GT and others, which is what we're stuck with now. And I'd really like Gran Turismo to get away from that hodge podge necessity, and into pure league racing recreation, like they try to do with NASCAR - and all those duplicate cars. :P

If we get those online Club and League Builder tools, what then? If you want to make something trying to capture the essence of BTCC, WTCC, V8 Supercar, ALMS or whatever, this situation is going to force some work on the league managers to make it viable. Or suppose you want to create a fantasy league that offers a different flavor of racing. You can slap racing parts and do weight reduction on a selection of approved cars and work on homologation rules, but it's not quite the same as a purpose modified race car, and you don't get liveries with them.

This is why I think Race Mod and a Livery Editor to go with it is so important to the future of Gran Turismo, and is something that could be a part of GT6 with a little work. In GT7 on PS4, this can be built in at the start, but you guys have to make some noise about it in order to nudge PD to put it closer to the top of their To Do list.
