Hi,
could someone explain in details what is the Race of Champions? I saw something on TV, but in country looks like people only watch F1 and Stock, the rest is nothing...poor bastards ^^
If you got a link with info or videos please post here ok?
Thank you!

That was on Eurosport, 2 days ago i think. It was pretty cool to watch.M.Schumacher eventually won the drivers competition and was later eliminated in the Nations cup together with Armin Schwarz.
Those ROC buggy's are aweseome.

Yihuu, Heikki Kovalainen won the race :D :D :D :D (Finnish of course :sly: :sly: )! He won even Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Loeb! Equal cars and tracks! Finns would have won also competition of nations but Kovalainen's Ferrari's battery and batterycharger broke :(

It's organized by Michéle Mouton, old rally driver and it's organized to Henri Toivonen's memorial. Henri died 1986 in Corsica (Tour de Corse) and race of champions have been organized since then every year. Before only rally drivers wre allowed to drive but nowadays racing drivers like Schumacher are also allowed to drive.

Edit: here are results http://www.waypoint.be/rocevent2004/

Edit: ( I wrote this post out intending to create a thread... Right before submiting that thread I decided to do a search. 👍 )

This racing series is amazing!

I love it. 👍

The ROC is the perfect racing for almost any racing fan.
With a light atmosphere of competition and a heavy atmosphere of friendly drivers an air of sportsmanship in motorsports is created.

That feeling of friendly competition among some of the greatest drivers in the world is entertaining to no end.

On top of all that SPEED actually does a good job of covering the event.

I couldn't contain my laughter as I watched Schumacher (sp?) try to explain his take on NASCAR and the young American driver Jimmy Johnson.

Of course everything comes back to the racing. 👍
With rally cars, buggies, and 360 Modena Challenge cars the racing is diverse; then with tight paved or dirt dual slolam courses. :dopey:

Tell me, what do you all think of the ROC?

Well, Schumacher has said many times that he has very little interest in oval racing because he feels it's unnecessarily dangerous. He has quite a bit of respect for the drivers' level of skill but believes that the form of motorsport they've chosen is too risky.

I was more interested to hear David Coulthard comment on NASCAR racing. He said that the first NASCAR race he watched was at Talledega, and that he was amazed by the control of the drivers as he saw a pack of cars that was two wide, then three wide, then two wide again, and said that he could never imagine just how that must feel to be going that fast and need that much control to keep from making a mistake.

And all of the drivers were very impressed with the ability of Mears and Johnson. Most effusive in their praise were Marcus Gronholm, Jean Alesi, Colin McRae, and Sebastian Bourdais.
