GTPlanet Race of Champions

Have you ever thought you have what it takes to become a real-life race car driver? Well, although this won’t put you in a real racecar, it will give you the opportunity to go wheel-to-wheel with real life “Gamers to Racers” or better known as GT Academy graduates as well as some Gran Turismo FIA Championship finalists! I have been able to contact and organize three separate races with these racers to accommodate all major time zones. “Well what does this mean to me?” you may be asking, there are open spots still available in order to fill each lobby, and it will be filled by you guys, the GTPlanet community!

***see this post to learn how you can participate***
Please read every post thoroughly to know all the details, and if you have any extra questions, just ask!

You may recall the last Race of Champions I hosted in February 2018 (link), well it's back and better than ever!

Race Day Procedure
Please try to be in the race lobby approximately 30 minutes before the advertised start time so we will have time to go over the starting procedures to be sure no one has any issues with the race lobby.

30 minutes prior to start: Everybody should be in the lobby and ready to race.

25 minutes prior to start: We will conduct a series of “stuck checks”. A stuck check is a practice start of a race to be sure no one is stuck on the race grid or in auto drive. We may need to do more than one stuck check.

15 minutes prior to start: The lobby will switch to turn off tire and fuel wear and qualifying will immediately start. Go onto the track and you will have 10 minutes to set the fastest time you can. If you start a lap before the clock in the bottom left of the screen hits 10 minutes, you may complete the lap.

5 minutes prior to start: Qualifying ends. Please stay on the track after the session has ended. DO NOT enter the pits or leave the track, I will need to see your positions in order to set the race grid.

3 minutes prior to start: I will set the race grid and then turn tire and fuel wear back on. At this time please enter the track and be prepared for the race start.

End of race: If you have any incidents you would like to report, send me a message with the time of race the incident occurs and a steward will take a look at the replay. A time penalty may be added to player’s finishing time at the end of the race due to penalties.

Community Qualifying Information:
There are extra spaces open on purpose! We intend to fill the room with you, the community! If you think you have what it takes to challenge GT Academy graduates and FIA Sport Mode legends, then you have to chance to qualify your way into the lobby!

There are a few restrictions though:
- To ensure quality racing, you must have ratings of at least DR:B and SR:S
- Your qualifying time must be faster than 1:22.500
- You must submit a “proof of time” video to this thread
- Your proof video must follow the format shown in the video below (lap, car settings, lobby settings)
- You must be using the BoP as found in (this post)
- Entry deadline for video submission is Tuesday Jan. 15th at 10:00pm GMT

Lap Upload Tutorial:
1. Make sure you can meet all the parameters stated above.
2. Complete a lap, then show the car settings and lobby settings.
***lobby settings must be identical to those in the example video below***
3. Press the “share” button.
4. Trim your video in your PS4’s “capture gallery” to the desired length.
5. Upload your clip to YouTube.
6. Post the link of your video to this thread with the correct formatting.
***follow the format shown below***

Balance of Performance:

I have created a more balanced and equal Balance of Performance for every Gr.3 car. This Balance of Performance will be used for these events. Please be sure your power and weight are set correctly, as I will be checking to see if it is correct. Please ignore the official BoP used in Sport Mode. The BoP that will be in place are the BOLDED columns.

BoP 6.png

***I have the right to adjust the BoP at any time before the event if adjustments are needed to provide better equality***

General Rules:

- Please try to avoid racing contact, if contact is made please be a gentleman and let the racer back by you
- Please do not make the lobby wait for you, ensure proper internet connection before entering the lobby
- Please have good sportsmanship and conduct in this thread, the race lobby, and anywhere else during the duration of this event
- Lapped Cars are expected to move out of the way for the leaders, failure to do so will lead to a time penalty added at the end of the race.

Update 1/4:

- BoP Chart Updated
- Entry Lists Updated

I am still working on inviting more drivers so the entry lists will start filling up! Don't forget to participate in the qualifying so you can be a part of this event!

I'll keep an eye on those races, it looks interesting. If I come, I'll make all the races, even if it's during the night

This is really cool, thanks for putting this on. Which game mode is to be used for setting the lap times to submit? Time trial mode or Custom race mode? I just want to make sure I’m going do it properly, this would be really fun to participate in. Thanks again and have a great day. :)

It is the open lobby setting. Make sure the room is set up correctly (the way it is in the video) and that you use the correct BoP values!
