Racing numbers on the hood

Some of the cars seem to need this to be reworked. It's usually pasted on the left of the hood if you are looking at the car from the front. I have seen examples of cars that either do not have one on the hood (Audi TT cup), or it is centred to avoid intakes and the like (Jaguar F-type), so PD do take the looks of the car into account.

BUT the WRX has a really funky aero set-up on it's hood, and the racing number gets plastered over two levels of bodywork. It looks atrocious. There are others where the racing number is basically split into two pieces and duplicated. I just wanted to call attention to it in the hopes it might receive some developer attention. Any other cars that have an obviously messed up hood sticker for racing number?

Yes, to be clear I'm talking about the number that appears when you select it from 'racing items' in the livery editor, or is automatically pasted over your livery in sport mode.

As far as I can tell, this cannot be moved or resized. Also, choosing a type from the drop down list has no bearing on the one that actually appears in sport mode races (which defaults to the basic type 1). That also seems like it may be a bug or an oversight?

I agree this is an oversight on PDs part. ATM, I use the default number type (the same one that gets automatically applied during sport mode) when creating custom liveries so it doesn’t mess with my creation... I hope they fix this in the future to at least allow us to keep our selected style during the races.

On Sport Mode they give you numbers accordingly to your DR rank in the room, whoever is the highest gets the number 1, and the lowest gets the lower number depending on the number of cars on track.

Wish we could use our favourite number.

Wow really?! I did not know that about the numbers.

I think the number we are assigned is the order we enter the room.

Actually its also thought to be your predicted finishing place in that race.

@hellZfirE where did you see info its DR rank as usually same DR rank e.g B in a race.

i figured it out after a lot of sport mode races. Take a look from now on, you'll notice too.

When more than one driver have the same DR letter, the tiebreaker is the progress bar, whoever has the biggest filled bar has a better DR and will have the lower number.

It isnt. It's the DR ranking. On the Fia races i do it's easy to verify this. There's always 2 to 4 S DR players in there, and the 1 to 4 numbers go to them.

It would be great if we had a set area in the livery editor where we could move the numbers about on the sides and bonnet, as well as an option to disable the number on the bonnet too as it really doesn't seem that important. Would also be great if the style you chose would carry over to Sport mode as well.

@Famine and @Milouse any view here ? Does this fit with your ongoing analysis.

I find that when people put numbers on the bonnet of the car, its a bit... childish/ugly... I prefer sides of the car or even rear side bumper.
