My Wheel - Logitech G923

Been having this issue since March 9th and had a conversation with @LOGI_Rich starting here. As you see, it started for me AFTER the PS5 Firmware update 3/8/23. The wheel would randomly have no wheel input and force feedback or start the game with none, but all the buttons and pedals work with no issues.

After trying various things such as:
  • Different USB Ports,
  • Different Power Outlet,
  • Order of devices powered on (AV Receiver, TV, PS5)
  • Plugging in the wheel before or after turning on PS5
  • Rest Mode
it continued. I don't have easy access to my PS4 right now so I can't test on PS4.

As I said in the Bug Reports thread, I was willing to wait till the next GT7 update (v1.31) which has come and gone. I'm still having the same issue, so I'm back for assistance or get the word out if there is indeed an issue which in my opinion there is. I don't think my wheel magically failed the same day an update that addressed the TRUEForce not operating as designed.

From the 9th of March till the 25th I had either random loss of wheel input or started with no wheel input. Last Sunday and Monday (3/26 & 3/27) I actually had ZERO issues both days for 6-7 HOURS straight. (Took advantage of a good session) Then, it continued.

Today (4/2/23) I played the events from version 1.13 update and got to the 60 Minute World Touring Car 800 at Spa. Had no issues, until I pulled over near the Start/Finish line with less than 30 seconds left to wait. Went to cross the line and had no wheel input/feedback, having to unplug/plug back in.

If I play on controller, and have the wheel plugged in but NOT connected as a controller (didn't push the PS Button), the wheel stays solid with resistance.

The poll is to see if I'm the only one and if not, how many others are having issues. I know there is a thread for the Logitech G Pro, but the users there are having Application Error and Freezing. I've never had that, no errors or freezing, just can be going along mid-turn and I'm physically turning but wheel in-game goes straight, so does the car.

:lol:Maybe a friend, who has a friend, whose Uncle works at Nintendo:lol:, who can get the message to Sony/Polyphony Digital. I know GTPLanet isn't any of these groups, but maybe a well-known member or person in high places here can get the word to the proper channels... ;):sly:, just in case this isn't known. It's not mentioned here. @WombatVet has/had the same issue and contacted PlayStation and got in my opinion, a generic flow chart response #xxx.

Any known workarounds or information would be appreciated. Thanks!

While I haven't experienced exactly what you're going through, I do have some pronounced clipping happening. It seems to be localized to high-hp FWD cars, the the steering wheel visually stops responding on screen, and the input seems to stutter.

Sorry I am not of more help. Hope you find some resolution soon.

I’m using the 923 wheel and PS5…..after a majority of the updates, I lose steering! All the buttons work.
Restarting my PS5 fixes the problem. Sometimes I have to restart it 2 or 3 times to get it back.
I never lose it in the middle of a race.

I’m having the exact same issue with my Thrustmaster t300, I thought my wheel died cause the fan was making a strange noise for months so I just thought it was time. My new wheel on start up sounded different so I naturally assumed I made the right choice but after maybe 5 laps on Mt panorama I changed to a different race and it started losing ffb. Glad I’m not going crazy but maybe bought a new wheel for kind of no reason is annoying haha

UPDATE:
Just now when I sign into my wheel I lose all force feed back but when I’m not signed in it’s full force and a fight to turn on, is the latest update to the ps5 an issue ? It’s all racing games it’s happening to

I have had this happen occasionally with my T300 wheel. Its usually if I get up, go cook some food then come back about half an hour later. The wheel will have no feedback and the gear shifting is not working. The buttons on the wheel work, so I can pause the game and unplug/replug in the wheel and all is fine. Its not a common thing though.

I have the same issue and it's really frustating, I have the psvr2 and this issue with the wheel is so annoying and it's affecting me, I don't even want to play Gt7 anymore. I don't have that problem with other games. Only GT7. What could I do?
I tried connecting the wheel in non-controller mode but the wheel is not responding...
Any suggestion, idea??
Should I connect Sony? Logitech? Gt team?

Is it anything like this?

What's the difference between clipping and belt slip?

Thanks.

So an update... (I wanted to give a little time and a few updates to be confident that I have a positive outcome)

Little over a month ago I replaced the USB extension cord (2.0) I had been using since the release of GT Sport with a USB 3.0 extension and I haven't had one single disconnect since the change.

Looks like when the TRUE Force started working properly after the PS5 firmware update a few months ago, the old 2.0 extension no longer had significant power/transmitting data capabilities. If that's the case so be it.

I'm not 100% on what I should or shouldn't be feeling, but my guess is the feedback is proper and I'm just happy the random disconnects stopped.... hopefully for good.

So in the end if you're using an extension and can't really connect directly to the PlayStation for whatever reason, try upgrading to a 3.0 and go from there.

----

@Fredkuac I'm not sure what or how to access non-controller mode. Like above, if you're using an extension try upgrading to a better cord. If you're not using an extension cord, and you plug the wheel in the front of the PlayStation, try plugging the wheel in the back. I don't have the PRO wheel. If that's what you use, I can't try and help you or suggest anything.

Polyphony Digital (GT Team) don't have a have a direct contact, at least not one I've seen. You could try contacting Sony, but I think they will have you contact Logitech since it's their wheel. @LOGI_Rich might be your best chance here to be able to give you some ideas. Hopefully you can get it figured out. Good luck!

Thanks bman, I already tried in the back usbs and it's not working. And it's a direct connection, without extensions.
I remember when it was working for me but suddenly stopped working.
I'll try to contact Sony and keep you updated.
