...Well I am. Its gonna be great. I should be taking the camera with me so I'll show you all pictures from this great V8 supercar event!
I'm also going to sydney for a few days, its gonna be great!

Any other Aussies going to Bathurst this year? Or has any others gone before, if so, wheres the best spots to watch the race from? :dopey:

Good person going to something like that plus enjoy it and also you lucky person.

Went to the 1000 from 1983 to 2001, the 2 litre 1000 1997 and 1998, the 24hr race in 2002 and 2003 and the championship rounds in 1995 and 1996. Certainly haven't lost interest since 2001 but having kids puts a strain on the budget, and is definitely not cheap, not since those bloodsuckers AVESCO took over anyway.
The Chase is good but there is construction work going on there at the moment so the viewing there may be limited. Murrays Corner and Hell Corner are a good spot to sit and rest your legs if you have been walking around a lot, or on the main straight in front of the big screen. Be sure to catch the bus to the top of the mountain and walk around the top. I like watching at McPhillamy Park and seeing the cars go across Skyline. You used to be able to walk all the way down to Forrests Elbow during the 1000 but I'm not sure if you can these days. Everyone has somewhere they prefer to watch from, just spend some time walking around. Take your own food and drink (you are not allowed to take alcohol in, you have to buy it inside) in an esky unless you are a millionaire.

Thanks. I'll make sure to walk around alot. Clipsal 500 would of been boring if I hadn't walked all over the place.
Also. I don't think I'll be taking in any alcohol or buying any as I am 15.

One of the guys in my class last year got to go to the Bathurst 1000 because he missed out on going to Pukekoe, something like that. You're just as lucky!

Take lots of water and get yourself on TV, I'll be watching the whole thing unless I have exams to study for! Mind you I haven't been following motorsport as closely as I used to be, everyone is switching teams so quickly it is so hard to keep track!

Nice pictures. Car sounds nice too.

@ Alpha - I'll try and get on TV and drink lots of water.

:D I'll make sure to have so much fun and try to get heaps of pictures to make you even more jealous.

I have to get the pictures when I go to my dads hosue this weekend. I didn't take many, as most of them turned out pretty bad, because the Digital camera is too slow.

We got a bus up to the top of the mountain and we watched from the first 3 corners before skyline, forgot they're names. Its great up there, alot of drunks too. It took about 20 minutes just to get some hot chips up there and about 10 to get a bottle of coke.

At the end of the race some people lit a portable toilet on fire, it was funny as hell, then the officials tipped it over and water went every where. After that a matress was put in the fire.👍 If my step brother has his P's next year by october we'll be driving up there to watch the race! Awesome time. Everybody who loves motorsport should go to this great event!

Oh, how I envy you. . . like I've said before. . .

*Meanwhile* - "patiently waiting for photos. patiently waiting for photos. patiently waiting for photos. . . . . . . " :D

What sucked about taking photos was, everytime I tried to get a picture of teh 05 Commodore I got one of the shell helix(sp?) falcons.:grumpy:

Those corners don't really have names. They use the names of the park to describe the section of track. The first section after the Cutting is Reid Park, then Sulman Park, then McPhillamy Park then the cars head into Skyline.
They showed a speed comparison between McConville in an SS Commodore, Brock in the Bathurst 1979 winning A9X and Skaife in his current Commodore race car. Did you hear the A9X? There is nothing like the sound of a Group C V8. I was surprised how quick Skaife caught and passed Brock, especially on the straight, although Brock was driving an unrestored 25 year old car that belongs to a well known collector so you could understand if he was taking it a bit easy.

You should have got it while it was trunddling around the track though??? What would've been better would be apic of Clelend pretending to be a stunt driver.Or Murph crossing the finish line, infront of 6 p*ssy ass Fords.

Yeah, that would be a great picture, too bad I was at the top of the mountain. I should of got a picture of Murph on his victory lap!

That would've been PHAT. That way you could've posted it and I would've bowed down to you. Ohwell. You missed your chance.
