Rain & Snow in Gran Turismo 5 - [UPDATED] finally, officially confirmed!!!!!

Aside from one or two rally courses - what other night courses were there in GT4?
None.

I actually kind of don't want blinding sun spots, for these reasons: The AI will either drive perfectly normally through them, or if they do screw up, it'll screw me up, plus it might look/feel contrived if they do crash. Secondly, I'm afraid it would be like London is in GT5P, where you can hardly see the road, but a simple rearview glance straightens it out, and I seriously don't want to race glancing behind me to get better vision when I return to looking forward. I know, someone will say, "then don't look back to improve your vision", but if your racing competitivly against humans that are doing it, you probably won't have much of a choice now will you?
Plus "blind spots" caused by sun IRL look different than they do in games. In a game, you just can't see, there is no "shield with your hand" option, or "put on shades" option, let alone the ever used IRL option of "have a tinted visor".

This game is 2 years old and it has a feature that nothing since then has included or even topped - why is this?
They should call that game "PGR4: The Weather Simulator", because as good as the implementation is, it was at the sacrifice of the gameplay relative to previous versions.

I have to agree with other comments though, the game does at least look stunning.

lol the PGR guys stole my idea (in-game weather reflecting your town's). Somehow I doubt Gran Turismo will have any of this. They're too concerned about being able to tell people their game has 900 cars

Well I know what i'd prefer-anyway why did you join a GT forum to criticise it and say how it is not as good as 'some xbox game'.

Well first, you have to be realistic on what the PS3 can do and what priorities a developer decides to do on their games.

Like Kaz said, he's aware that fans want some type of weather element in the game, but all that depends on how well the game ends up balancing out and if it'll interfere with the other, more important priorities like car modeling, trackside detail, physics, etc.

If anything, I appreciate much on the decisions PD has done with their game.

Oh? They stole your idea eh?! So, you didn't notice that PGR4 did this and decided that it would also be a good idea to have it in GT5?

I agree that the WRC will be tame if weather isn't added to GT5 - in fact, it would be just like all the other rally modes from past GT games - just with better graphics. ;)

i think we all know that we're not going to have rain and snow... and about wrc i think it's only cars so the don't bother about all different conditions.

I hope to be wrong cause i love wrc.

Seriously? Given that many of the newer racing games include rain these days I think PD would be making a big mistake if they left that one out. Snow could go either way, it'd be cool but if I was them I wouldn't spend a lot of time on it if it was looking difficult.

Yeah, i too would enjoy driving in rain, and especially snow! Everyone that has driven a rwd in snowy conditions know :) Much fun!

Reason why R + S should be included:
Because instead of the majority "I LOVE RALLY" in the GT series...
(reason for this might be that the skill difference between pad and steering wheel is not so big in this section...you agree?)
and WITH R + S the rally would just be so much more fun than without...

so please KA, go 4 it...
and one more thing: Kaz, release the game NOW, you &%$&§"?$($&!!!

I dissagree with the statement about pad users and wheel users being more closely competitive in rally stages.
Reason being is that you can go lock to lock in .1 of a second on a pad. That can be a huge advantage in a rally discipline.

Yes they should get rain and snow. I hope you can hit big ass mounds of snow and all you see is rays of sun passing through the mass of a giant powder cloud as it hits your windshield and your wipers wipe it away......

The End:)

@TRK 29 I think I've got you on my friends list, maybe from sturmovik days. Can't remember ever playing you though.

LOL that is actually a really good idea :D
Also it would be kool if the alien invaders shot laser beams at someone who rams another person off the course!
