Raining at Suzuka

I was about to start the final race in the gran turismo gt series. I had it paused from the night before and didn't pay any attention but noticed when my car was on the grid that it was raining. I wasn't sure what to expect from the car since I've never ran it in the rain. Well it was like skating. I was all over the place. I was so bad that as I made the final turn on the 1st lap heading towards completing my first lap I went sliding into the pit lane. I tried backing out but it sucked me in. I clicked OK when it prompted me to choose what I wanted them to do in the pit. I didn't change anything just hit OK and it put on rain tires. What a nightmare. I went around the track at about 40 mph and still had a hard time staying on the pavement. I pitted as I came around and put on racing soft tires. It was quite an improvement. I was on lap 12 and about 1:40 off the lead and I paused it to make a phone call. When I continued I decided to be cautious and learn how to handle that big boy in the wet. As I got more comfortable I pushed a little more noticing that I was shaving off a few seconds at each interval. Early into lap 18 I finally seen a car in front of me. I eventually passed it and then passed another until I was in second place. I couldn't see the lead car and didn't want to take my eyes off the road to look at the map so I continued hoping to see the mist from his car. Sure enough there he was. I went to pass him and sent him sideways and took the lead. At this point I was a little nervous and at some point near the end of lap 19 I went a little off the track and had to reverse the car to get it going in the right direction. I was passed by 2 cars. On the final lap I passed them both, which was actually easy and finished the race in 1st place just over 5 seconds ahead.

On lap 12 when I paused it I thought the race was done. I was just finishing it out to actually finish the circuit. I had no idea I could catch those cars. They drive very different in the rain. When it's dry they can be caught but they are flying around the track a lot faster. They were driving like they had the rain tires on which you would think would be the tire that would be the best in those conditions but they aren't. Racing softs in rain is the way to go. I finished 6th overall. However, maybe somebody reading this might be in a position to win and if they have never raced the Gran Turismo GT in the rain might decide to pack it in. Well don't. The AI of the other cars is shocking. They drive very slow and can be caught.

I was in that rain situation in both A and B spec while doing the Super GT.
Bob had the exact same problem as you described. Somehow to get the right tire for the right situation can be tricky. Intermediates only worked for Bob when it was already almost dry and the tires only last for about three rounds, then racing medium was already fast enough. The AI seems to skip Intermediates, therefore they slide around like hell before changing to Racing tires.

I myself have not that much problem on rain. I always skip the Intermediates and make a double pit to renew my rain tires. Save for me. Meanwhile the AI will go off road, and the extra stop relativists it.

I could not do anything with racving soft tires on and stayed with rain tires and won by almost a minute im curious to know what your lap times where with racing tires on

If "grip reduction on wet" is set to low, race soft are faster in the rain.
If "grip reduction on wet" is set to real, you better have rain tires.
