Rainmasters makes my game freeze

I wonder if this has been discussed recently, but right now , as soon as I choose the first rainmasters (IA) race at Spa, my game freezes at loading. I can "quit" the loading screen, but the game will then freeze again when I want to leave and get back to the race selection. I didn't try choosing Sarthe or the Nurb to start with.

The unit won't quit the game for real, and the device will not shut down on it's own, i have to force it off by flipping the switch behind

(fat 80 gig PS3)


So far the updates are loading fine and I can get the seasonal events just fine, I was able to acquire the Nissan and Aston martin cars no problem.

The rest of the game seems to be working fine.

There are two things that worries me:

The first one is that I know that GT6 has an history of random crashes with different PS/ devices. it may be related as I think I've seen this before.

The second thing is that recently, my 2½ year old son has played with the disc and may have been damaged. There are scratches showing, but i've heard that bluray discs are still readable nonetheless.

Any insights?

Checked that Spa event few minutes back (with mp4c) and for me it works ok (120gb Slim, PAL GT6) . If you tried with only one car ,try choosing some other car (you never know ) , check other events or try Spa (day/night,weather version) in arcade with same car/same weather time conditions. I think, if it is installation or disc failure Spa shouldn't work in arcade too.

Thought of that... any other race where Spa is involed wouldn't work if I read you... i did try with two cars, tried once pre 1.10 with a fairlady Z34, then I tried with the rocket car ( after 1.10) that was yesterday.

Hate to say it, but I think you've answered your own question... ..

As "jonjig" pointed, if Spa is freezing also in other events or arcade etc... then unfortunately (or fortunately) problem is GT6 disc > scratches. There are some guides online how to "clean/repair" scratches you can try , but if disc is "terminal" damaged ,it will only lead to more problems with other parts of game in future...

didn't try yet. I will try it in the next few days. If there was a problem with the disc itself, the scratch is about 1½-2 inches long... surely there would be other stuff that would be broken if the disc were to blame.

right now i'm only having issues with this specific race. The Nissan seasonal was on tokyo route 246, and I had no issue there.

Just tried loading spa in arcade mode. Works... I din't played with the wheather though. I'll try loading another event... 15 minures race #3...(nurb) and it works

I also tried going straight to rain masters #2... Same issue...
