Not that I intend to spread the first page of the Formula 1 threads with my name, but teh news just keeps on happening and it's great when everyone joins in. So, here is the news:

Ralf Schumacher drives in the city 'like a woman', at least that's what his wife said in a German television programme.

The new Toyota driver is not too much at ease when it comes time to park the car in the city. "He had many small accidents," said Cora Schumacher. "Especially when he gets in or out of a parking space. Ralf is creating the kind of accidents that we usually associate with women."

One example: Ralf had to trade his BMW road car for a Toyota - for obvious contractual reasons - and already had his first 'involuntary contact' while trying to park. "Ralf was waiting for the 'beep' that was supposed to warn him that he was close enough to the car in the back but we heard another sound instead!" explained Cora.

We must add that his Toyota is not equipped with a 'Park distance control' system like on his previous car (BMW)... and Ralf is now aware of it !

I guess racecar drivers aren't that good off the racetrack?

4 day old news

It's still funny though, I almost pissed myself when I read that .

Ralf should look into the Toyota-built Lexus LS430, which has the Park Assist feature, which beeps annoyingly until you are safely away from crashing into nearby objects (bumpers, mailboxes, trees, pedestrians). Not that it helps the 70-somethings that come into my dealership, many of whom have to be introduced to the body shop before we repair their car!

Racing drivers sometimes get "tunnel vision"; their reflexes when used with hand-and-eye coordination may vary with the speed they're travelling at.

Imagine trading in your BMW for a Toyota. That's like going from a 140cm widescreen TV to a 40cm B&W job.

Pupik - when exactly is GT2's 5th birthday? And what's a pupik? :D

If you're comparing Camrys to 3-series, then yes. If you're comparing Toyota's better offerings to their BMW counterparts, then you're way off base because you believe what every car magazine says.

December 14th, 1999. Or thereabouts.

And what's a pupik?

:| Right, so why is Toyota the second largest car maker in the world?

There are good toyotas and bad toyotas, there are good bimmers and bad bimmers. Besides I would gladly trade any BMW for a Lexus.
Oh, and also a X5 for a Land Cruiser and a X3 for a Rav4... without even blinking

Actually you can compare Camrys to a BMW 3-series. They are in the same range/group..... you may say that the Camry will not have the same level of sofistication than a 3-series. But I have ridden many 3-series (There are many here) and I don't think that they are that special... Don't get me wrong, I also don't think that the Camry is special but I never really understood the fuss about 3-series bimmers.

But I guess we always cobit what we don't have right? Being a European, I think that the Ford Taurus, Chrysler El Dorado, American Pick-Up Trucks are very exciting cars, you on the other hand like BMWs and Mercedes :D

What?!

Silly guy,

-The Landcruiser 100 has more space (space for max.8 people) then the X5 thing.
-It is better looking then the X5
-It is better offroad(the X5 is sort of offroad-roadcar  )
-The landcruiser 100 and the landcruiser has the more reliable and the more powerful engine then the X5)

Landcruiser: 4.2L 260 hp
Landcruiser 100: 4.7L 250 hp

Plus, if you want the 4.4L V8 315 hp X5 you are going to pay waaaay more then for the landcruiser

You sure you would choos the X5?

Personally: I would choose the 1977 Landcruiser BJ-40. Now that's a beast 👍

lol so Ralf outqualified Montoya in most of their races together, but can't park his car without hitting something! Strange.

Actually, maybe it's not so strange. Ralf always crashed into *a lot* more things than Montoya.

montoya is a reflex/reactive type driver...it may seem that he is putting the car at risk but thats just the way he drives...he goes 11/10ths and then relies on his reflexes to keep him at 10/10ths...doesnt always work but thats his style...

That's one of the things I love about him, he always does the impossible. I think he's the only driver I've seen pass at Monaco for a long time 👍

I recall Allan McNish mentioning, the team equipped his '69 camaro with a Toyota GT-One engine. So I doubt Ralf drives something boring like a Camry. But then again, with the salary he gets, there's no room for Ralf to complain.

Comparing a Camry to a 3 series is a bit silly, in my opinion. Fully loaded Camry barely gets u a bottom of the line 3. IS300 is the Toyota's answer to the 3 series.
5 series -> GS300/430

??!

I was saying that I prefer Toyotas over BMWs.... maybe I didn't write it right!

so, from the top again: :)

Toyota IS the 2nd largest car maker in the World! They don't have to team up with anyone (joint ventures is what everyone calls it these days) to create, newer cars, new technology, prototipes, etc...

If things continue in this pace they will surpass GM in a few years.

So, I would rather have a Land Cruiser than a BMW X5
I would rather have a RAV4 than a BMW X3
I would rather have a Lexus than a BMW

:)

Oh, and my Dad used to own a BJ40! He sold it to my uncle with 400,000 kms.
The Car to this date, has never had a problem, and its already over 1,000,000 kms
No wonder I'm a Toyota fan :D

I really miss that car, luckily since its my Uncle that has it now, I still get to ride it sometimes ;)
