Just wandering about here on GTP...thought of Rally because I was doing a special circuit race...And thought some people might want to share rally settings or even helping out with tuning?

Most of the modern cars handle pretty well with stock suspension settings. On the other hand, the Group B cars need quite a tweaking to sit firmly on the road. They are very fast but you need to be a good driver to get the most out of them.

I just recently began driving the Delta S4 on circuits and it's a handful even on tarmac, let alone dirt. If you need a fast rally car, it's this Delta. If you need a car with good handling, go for an Impreza WRC '03 or some Mitsubishi.

Speaking of the Mitsubishis, the CZ-3 Tarmac is a beast as it's a small car with the latest Lancer technics. A very good car once you get one.

Sorry, I got way off-topic... what kind of settings do you need? :)

it's alright...i got that "wide body" sti, the 228...and got some pics up...i got hard suspension settings, stabs high, around 4 - 5 and camber is 2.8 in front and .5 in back...I LOVE DIRT, it handles sooo much easier than street and drift, if u get to wide and start stepping on the throttle...WOOOO it counters by itself :dopey:

i leave a pic or two

i used the Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STi (GD Type-II) ('02) for the dirt races and the renault 5 maxi turbo rally car '85 for the street. try these two cars, i've won nearly all with them.

I myself used Pug 205 T16 Evo2 to defeat the dirt rally opponents, and Ford RS200 Rallycar to kill the opposition on tarmac. RS200 is a go-kart on tarmac when properly adjusted.. :dopey: but the most fun I had at citta di ara and costa di amalfi when I did use my F1.. i know, it's cheating, but those narrow roads did even it up nicely.

I've never really succeeded in tuning the RS200, can you tell me what's the trick in it?

well, I have to sort out my settings out again, since I've restarted the game after that.. i got the RS200 again, and have to start from a scratch. I'll let you know when I'm done. I defeated Pug T16 evo2 on george v on that thing, and by all means, it was a close race, despite all those adjustments. :scared:

you defeated the Pug T16 evo2 at paris with the rs200? respect! i tried a lot with the r5 maxi turbo rally car but never succed. then i won it with the formula. but i'm also interested in your rs200 settings....

Ford RS200
Lancia Delta S4
Peugeot 205 T16
Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2
Renault 5 Maxi Turbo

As far as I know (and remember), these are the Group Bs in GT4. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

don't forget Stratos.. and AFAIK, MR2 could be counted as road version of group B. it was originally Lotus's design, but was given to Toyota after Great B was cancelled.. and, Nissan 240 RS, Mitsubishi Starion.. they were there too.. as well as Golf mk2 and Opel Kadett D..

btw, do you want settings for RS200? I've finished with them, I don't think I can improve this car any further.. of course, these settings might apply only to my driving style..

what do you understand with "group B cars"?

"Group B" was the top level rally class in 83-86, when homologation rules allowed pretty much anything to race.. and the cars got ridiculously powerful as a consequence...
http://www.stormloader.com/groupb/index.html
The cars reached a point where many wondered if the cars had reached a point where the drivers could not fully control them. For instance, the Lancia Delta S4 could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 2.3 seconds on a gravel road. Henri Toivonen drove an S4 around Estoril, the Portuguese Grand Prix circuit, so quickly that he would have qualified sixth for the 1986 Portuguese Grand Prix. Nigel Mansell sampled a Peugeot 205 T16 and said it could out-accelerate his F1 car.

:scared:

In the final year of the class, 1986, the cars were putting out over 500HP... and with the insane crowding and tight tracks, disaster was waiting to happen.

In Rally Portugal that year, some local driver ran into some spectators that crowded the track, killing four and injuring dozens. Then, in Corsica later that year, season leader Henry Toivonen and his co-driver died when they flew off the track in a hairpin.

After 1986, group B was (sensibly) banned, and rallying rules were made stricter.. the new "group S" (which never happened) rules were later revived as the foundation for the elite rally class we know as WRC (world rally championship) today.. restricting engine output to 300 HP.

Check out the documentary "Too fast to race" if you can find it.. it describes the rise and fall of group B.

I forgot the 240RS, but the Stratos was actually a Group 4 car, not a Group B. (Group B was developed from Group 4 though) and the Starion was too late to race, so I didn't count it as a Group B car.

And don't forget the Skoda 130...

ok, here's my fully tuned Ford RS200 rallycar settings for tarmac/pavement/asphalt or whatever you want to call those grayish pixels in the game..

Suspension

Spring rate: 12.5/10.0
Ride height: 85/105
DBS: 10/10
DRS: 5/5
Camber: 3.5/0.5
Toe: -2/-4 <--- if this doesn't suit your drivingstyle, alterate it to make the ride more steady..

Stabilizer: 7/7

BFC: 20/24 <- turn around if you prefer stronger brakes in front. then, the front brakes will lock and the car can not be turned.. atleast it is so in real life. :odd:

driving aids: NONE!! those nannies slow me down.. and I doubt that real car didn't have them either, thus, no driving aids.. :sly:

VCD: 50/50

racing hard or racing medium tyres will do fine.

leave the tranny as it is, or adjust auto settings few clicks to right so it will top out approx 180mph/300 km/h.. and make the first gear longer, otherwise there will be wheelspin. and watch out in curves.. if you try drifting, this car will bite your head off without warning.

there they are. these suspension settings brought me victory against T16 Evo2 when the car was still stock.. enjoy! :)
