"Rally Trophy is a historic PC rally simulation, created by Bugbear Entertainment and JoWood Productions. The cars modelled are Mini Cooper 1275S, Saab 96 V4, Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA, Fiat 600 Abarth, Opel Kadett, Lancia Fulvia, Ford Cortina, Ford Escort MK1 RS2000, Volvo Amazon, Alpine A110 and Lancia Stratos. In the game, the player is taken through 42 highly detailed stages in five countries - Russia, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and Kenya - which cover several road surfaces including gravel, mud and tarmac. Stages take place in all weather conditions such as rain in both the day and night. Damage is accurately re-created, even down to broken headlights which the player must of course preserve to see during night stages. Rally Trophy was considered by many people to be the Grand Prix Legends of rally driving, due to its focus on historic cars, and the physics models of the cars (with no traction control or driver aids) being relatively realistic and challenging for its time."

I noticed there wasn't a thread regarding this game, and wanted to get feedback on what the community thinks about it. I have never had the pleasure, and yet it seems like something I would enjoy. It's astonishing to me that I had missed it when it released.

So, what's the consensus?

Will it even play on Vista?

;)

I still have it and infact we've been playing it with my cousin every now and then. Last time just a couple of weeks a go. Still a great game and fun to battle via online.

I installed it last night (Vista 32), and it works perfectly well. I even downloaded the Nurburgring (uses the Russia SS8 as a template/base).

That being said...

My wheel doesn't work with it (Fanatec PWTS). It would work, if I could configure the buttons (shifting up is "start", and shifting down is the left paddle), but alas there doesn't seem to be a way to change this. Too bad, because it seemed like a fun little distraction.

Uninstalled...

Re-installed RBR with RSRBR 2010. :sly:

;)

Just in case, you do know that the button mapping is done in a separate window that opens in Windows? At least with DFGT it allows me to map buttons however I want them to be. But I don't know about Fanatec, maybe it's not the same with it.

Nope, it's not.

The Fanatec drivers don't seem to be compatible.

Oh well, RSRBR 2010 is sating my Rally needs quite well at the moment.
