Rallying help needed

I am using the Ford RS200 I won in Costa Di Amifi and have won all easy rallies. However, I must have either a set up wrong, or the car is rubbish, as I cannot get any grip at all on the dirt and snow trails. I am using the special snow/dirt tyres for these events, but I still cannot get much grip. I know that you shouldn't have too much grip in rally stages but I can hardly control my car. Do I need to reconsider buying a different rally car like the Subaru and if so has anyone any tuning tips for it. Cheers

Could be traction...In my first snow stages I was going always sideways!!Traction settings were 20front - 80rear. I just modified it about to a 40front - 60 rear or 50-50 etc

I need to know that as well.I'm stuck on the last two races at Grand Canyon and Ice Ring (hard) and would appreciate any help with car/settings. I see the 40/60 mentioned but I can't find the right section. (UK version) I've been using the Mitsubishi Super Rally car.

where abouts is the traction control setting in settings
thanks

I believe you will have to buy the VCD controlller , to mess around with the traction control settings ( power to the front or rear ) I see most guys taking it 40 / 60 , I would try it out!

I don't think it is called traction. I think the setting you need is in the far right hand column in the settings screen and possibly the last or second last. It needs to be set to 40 - range goes to 50 try values at the top end there.

edit: I am at work so can not check what it is called.

You are all wrong  almost...
When the RS200 first arrived in group B Rally, the driver could control the torque going through the Center Differential; 50-50, 0-100 (something around this) and 37/63, which is the settings for rally/ice. I use this setting and for me it works ok.

If GT4 is as realistic as they say, this should be the perfect setting.
Also consider softing your dampers, increase ride height, decrease the stabilisers. and for better stearing response, you can toe out the front a bit, and the rear.

Using 50/50 isnt that good because the car is hard to turn, but the accelartion is great.
Another important thing is using the Limited slip differantial right; I have 10/20/10 in front and 10/50/20 for the rear wheels.

yeah, the RS200 comes with fairly stiff springs when you buy the full custom suspension, and those should definitely be softened.

I was wondering about transmission, Should I buy the FC tranny and set it to shorter gearing? I have been using the stock tranny for all the easy rallies, and it's easy to control wheel speed but sluggish on some corner exits.

Also, a small driving question, Should I be trying to keep my front wheels planted or should I all out slide through corners? Not really sure what my goal is in tuning the car. Right now I have a bit more downforce on the front, but I can add more and soften the front strut a bit if I shouldn;t be sliding all out.

i was using a subaru sedan `02

its hard 2 control i done all the easy rallys and like 2 or 3 of the Normals but i gave up bc im not 1 for messing with settings , any1 got any ideas?

I'm stuck on the hard version of Tsukuba Wet Race. I've tried using the 350Z LM Race Car, the Cadillac CIEN, and a few others, all tuned of course, and I just cant seem to beat that car! Little help please?

I beat it with the mercedes CLK. Might be overkill, but it worked.

Finished all rally races.Grand Canyon (hard) the worst.Use the Mitsubishi Super Rally Car.
At Tsukuba Wet (hard) restart till you get the Mazda .I found it easy to beat.I think I used the car from the opening film,Ford Gt Lm II '04,which you get for winning the GT World Championship. Soft tyres, auto transmission 3. I knocked the Mazda into the sand on the first bend and in spite of losing speed (5 pt pen) I stayed ahead won it again just now by 5 secs. You can't get anything for the Ford you win tho.Just 81 aspec points.

You'll love this, this is how I did it. Cheated a little at it but, what they hey.

I didn't have any of the super cars at the time to take that track, I just entered the race with that R32 GTi by HPA Motorsports. Use super soft Racing tires (Well, on all the asphault rallies might as well use those, since there is no tire wear), and just keep up with the car until that fairly tight turn at the the south of the track. Don't let up on the gas nearing the corner, stay to the inside, and time it off so you can smack right into the side of 'em. You'll get a 5 Second penalty, but this is the weird part.

Must be a little glitchy or something, the other car gets disoriented and stays put for a few seconds. It then starts driving and hits the wall opposite of where it lands. This gives you time to gain a fair amount of distance, but he may catch up to you right during the last lap. I've done it a few times, its pretty funny to watch.

I an beat it with the funky looking Susuki GSX-R/4 easily and get 200 A-
spec points each time. cool

Are you guys usind th logiteh driving force pro for the rally races??
- With the dual shock its easy, but not as fun as the wheel
so I wondered if everyone here uses the wheel

I also used the Chaparral 2J. That vacuum cleaner works flawlessly. Use super softs for extra traction. Won by 20 seconds or so. I also used a F1 car and dusted the competition.

Good advice has already been given, but let me confirm:

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Super Rally Car '03 is the Minolta Toyota of the rally cars. It is overwhelmingly fast, and requires almost no chassis mods from stock. Just turn off ASM, set the TCS at 10, and set the brake balance at 2/4. I also added the "Increase Rigidity" option, set the final drive at 5.500, and set the Autoset at 1 for the closest-possible set of gears. Use stock power on most events, adding Stage 3 turbo if you're still having a little trouble. Nothing is its equal in the dirt and snow events.

Buy the Super Evo for 1,250,000. It isn't a prize car.

The tip about using R5 Racing Super Soft tires on the Tsukuba Wet race is the key. You might also want to turn the TCS up to 10. Any reasonably fast car can win. Just use a light touch on the throttle.

I did this race a couple of days ago and I used the Mitsubishi Lancer Super Rally Car and annilated that Ford GT by at least 45 seconds and it was very easy with that car.

IMO the Super Rally Car is the best rally car on the game. I won all of the rally races easy, normal, and hard. But it costs a smooth 1,500,000. :)

Edit: Looks like Zardoz beat me too it. :)

Try using the Camaro race car with super soft tires, nitro on the straights. You can beat any car by 30 seconds or more, easy!

I find Grand Canyon (Hard) Reverse impossible to beat.
Driving the track the normal direction is no problem, did that in the 206 Evo Rally Car - but the REVERSE
It's the last section of the track, where there are a lot a cornes with rocks on the sides. If I go normally "slow" though the corners, the car hits the rocks anyway. If I go "slow-slow", the other car passes. I have spent 4-5 hours with different cars and different setups... Nothing works.
What did you guys do??
