Hi folks, what are you stories that you can tell to others.Mine was helping a women in a wheelchair, i gave her a product off the shelf in a local supermarket that she couldn't reach, that she asked for.I have done other things like that before. Is that a random act of kindness or just being helpful ?.
Cheers Nath.
Hello, Nath. That's just being helpful.
But what would be the definition of 'helpful' when it borders on kindness and is of a random nature?
If some friend calls you ahead and wants help moving, would your service be helpful? random? kind?
A duty?
Speaking of random acts of kindness is difficult when one's right hand isn't talking to the left - but I can tell you this for a beginning - I experience many random acts of kindness from people - quite often total strangers I never see again.
Sometimes I never forget them - like this couple who suddenly came to my aid when I had to avoid T-Boning a careless driver reversing out of their driveway like a maniac and I had no option but to swerve and plough into a snow drift that had my car securely wedged under a ten foot pile of snow. Long story . . .
And then there was that time the TTC driver let me ride for free because I had no change. I'll never forget that.
I didn't know they didn't make change; it was the first time I rode it, and it was an emergency.
Embarrassing, but a relief to not get thrown off the bus.
It was only much later I learned that TTC drivers have that privilege - to let people ride for free; random acts of kindness at their discretion.
