Twice today I have had the same file called fallback just start downloading to my computer. Usually when a file downloads it asks me to name it and save t somewhere but this one doesn't. Only happens when going to the GTP homepage. I don't know if this is a virus or something, it appears to just be an HTML file.

Both files read as follows:

French Toast
French toast, also known as eggy bread, gypsy toast, German toast, or Spanish toast is a dish of bread soaked in beaten eggs and then fried.

Edit 1: Just happened again. Only on the home page of GTP. No other web page does it.

...A virus? Adware? ...{shudder} a trojan? :ill:

Run to the hills!

Have you ran a virus scan on your PC yet?

Could also be an ad or banner that fails to load its usual content and serves up this fallback together with a mismatched Content-Type header. That will result in a download instead of being shown in the browser. But yeah, run the virus and malware scanners.

I also had a file download pop up on the GTPlanet home page yesterday, it was a .js file. Knowing what those things are like I quickly naviagted away. I could not get it to replicate to take a screen shot.

I was using IE11 in metro app mode and I know my computer is virus free.

I sort of laugh when it said French Toast but since its a virus, yeah. I wouldn't go too far with this. Famine is very honest about it being a virus / malware.

But yeah, run a virus or malware scan.

What browser? Have you tried clearing all internet history including offline data? Maybe worth downloading CCleaner and running that: Link

That content seems from Wikipedia so doubt it is a virus, seems a browser problem. Do you have a Wikipedia add-on?

Chrome. Clear it every 2 days (apart from passwords). Never heard of it, may try it.

No.

Worth running, clears a lot of temporary files out and easy to use. Worth also checking your extensions, see if anything new might have installed that could be causing it. If this doesn't resolve it then worth uninstalling Chrome and then installing it again.

could just search for .tmp in explorer and delete all of those... rather than download a program to do that...
