RBS 6 Nations 2006 Thread

I have a feeling the thread was a late starter last year, but there must be plenty of members watching the tests.

So, a fairly predictable weekend results wise, but a lot of close scorelines which is great news for the game.

France 43 - 31 Ireland - Incredible comeback from the Irish.

England 31 - 16 Italy - Good spirited contest from the Italians, lucky English try at the end means the scoreline doesn't reflect how close the match was.

Wales 28 - 18 Scotland - Considering the Scots had a player sent off on 23 minutes, they played very well defensively and two late tries including an 80 metre dash from winger Chris Paterson gave a fair final result.

So, England are the only team with a chance at winning the Grand Slam. Will France continue the kind of form they had at the start of the Ireland game? Will Scotland recover to upset the English at Murrayfield? Will Ireland be in high spirits after their comeback to prevent England getting the Grand Slam again? Will Italy win a game? (they definitely deserve to)

Comments appreciated. :D

How about an introduction explaining what in the hell RBS means?

Introduction: The RBS 6 Nations is the rugby tournament held each year in Europe. Wales, England, Italy, Ireland, Scotland and France all compete for the cup and attempt to avoid the wooden spoon (for losing all the games).

RBS = Royal Bank of Scotland

I assumed that the people watching it would know what it was.

I tried this thread last year and it flopped, so I didn't try this year.

Face it Jack, we're the only people that like rugby out of a 60,000 member community :dopey:

Basically, if Ireland or France get their acts together and play well for an entire game (not just teh 40 mins they each have) then they can quite possibly beat England.

I think Italy will beat Scotland, and possibly Wales aswell now that Ruddock has left :(

Haha, cool, 911. Thanks. I figured it was rugby, though.

This thread is the sux.

Even though there were no tries in the Scotland game it was still great 👍

Wales for 6 nations Champion :D

Already shaping up to be the tightest 6 Nations in years.... great performance and a worthy win for the Scots yesterday - I watched the game with my Welsh friend and my English girlfriend... she wasn't a happy camper at all, but eventually ended up speaking to me again, and did accept the result in good grace eventually! Just watching the Ireland v Wales match live on bbc.co.uk...

That was a horrendous game from Wales. Only scored one try in the first 8 mins and nothing for the rest of the game. That's just pathetic. We didn't break any lines, we didn't play quick ball.

We were doomed from when Jones got injured and had to come off with Henson replacing.Henson should never have been playing. I seriousley think that even the coaching staff must be overcome with Henson fever.

I'm told that it's a minor miracle they got him to the ground at all. He's very religious, by all accounts.

Well, I heard that it's tough to keep him out of church on Sundays anyway...

Oh dear oh dear. The high standard of comedy we've come to expect from you here at gtplanet.net is not reflected in that post. I mean sure, some of the Americans would have found that funny but us Brits heard that one at least 4 months ago.

Oh Christ that is old... :scared:

Place your dinfinitive bets on who you think will win the tournament now...

I think Scotland are looking the best. A strong game against France, a good score against Wales considering they only had 14 men for much of the game and a win against England.

It would be great if the Scots win it.

It wasn't long ago that England were thinking about trying to join the Southern Hemisphere teams in an annual tournament because the 5/6 Nations wasn't enough of a challenge for them. This year they've had a tough game against Italy and been beaten by Scotland. It's great.
