Real and made-up cars in GT2

Let's post here pictures of undescribed cars in GT2 that are real! We can compare them if GT2 cars are similar or not to real ones, or determine which GT2 cars are totally fabricated by Polyphony Digital :)

I'll start this. The two drag cars:

Okay. So I've often tried to figure this dilemma out. Like all the LM cars, I have yet to find one that's actually real. Like, can anyone find a pic of a Venturi 600LM? Or a Camaro Race Car (GT3 & 4) or Honda/Mugen S2000 GT1? I asked this question a while back in the GT4 forum and pretty much got told off, like someone said I don't know what the hell I'm talking about! But I have yet to find anyone who will meet the challenge.

Yeah, about LM cars - some of them must be made-up. Look at the CR-X del sol LM - it has naturally-aspirated 1.6 liter straight-four engine producing 617 hp at 9500 rpm (not like F1 or touring cars, at 14000+, but at 9500!). I'm sure this is unreal. I've heard about one WRX Impreza which was built into a dragster (actually that was the fastest scooby ever), it had 2.6 liter Boxer 4 engine producing more than 1200 hp, but it ran two enormous turbos and was a dragster... Comparing to this Honda - that WRX's engine had 1 liter more capacity and was hardly turbocharged... What can I say about this poor CR-X :ill:

About Mugen S2000 - the only one I've seen was this:

All the 'LM's' are made up. Polyphony simply experiments with popular models and they subsequently remain as 'dream' models (as they were evidently called in GT: Concept). I think the main contention here is of what 'real-life' cars the LM dream cars are based upon. A thread dedicated to this very subject has been posted before, but it can pass as this is certainly interesting nonetheless.

As I said, some of the 'LM' models in the GT series take many of their styling cues from real-life racers, but they are never intended to be the actual cars.

Hey Parnelli, does this look at all anything like the Camaro Race Car?

(The bodywork is just similar; all bets on paint schemes are off)

As for the Honda S2000 GT1: I found a picture that was a dead ringer for a Honda S2000 GT1 at one angle, but it seems more likely that it was an Amuse S2000 GT1...

Yeah that's what I've always assumed.

How about this?..

Although, it's called Venturi Atlantique 600 SLM. And 600 LM is this:

Wow, that's actually pretty close! I didn't know Venturi actually raced, I thought they just made a few sports cars and went out of business.

But actually I screwed up...I was thinking of the Vector LM that appears in GT2, not the Venturi.

Sorry, I was talking about the SPOON S2000 GT1 that you buy at the dealer for like a million credits and has about 577 hp. Obviously, there's tons of real-life Mugen & Spoon S2000's that resemble the less-powerful cars.

anyway the hks skyline are the fastest skyline in the world it pulled 7.95/181mph at quarter mile

Nope, the record got beaten by New Zealander Reece McGregor in a R32, which breaks the record at 7.57 ( i remembered it from a Super Street magazine....it was a January 2007 issue i think) But then HKS retired the R33 for good and the record hasn't been beaten since....

But onto topic now, since the 600Lm and the Camaro LM has been covered, lets talk about the S2000. If i remembered correctly, the Honda S2000 GT1 was based of a widebodykitted S2000. Then somehow Amuse got the idea and build the Amuse S2000 GT1 based on the car in GT2 (i think) But thats just a dream car as GT Pro mention earlier. Oh yeah, is the Opel Tigra Ice Rally Car/ Race car real?

I think the Tigra Ice Car is real. Can't find any pics at the moment, though. Interesting about the S2000 GT1...

I couldn't find the Ice Race Car, but I stumbled on this:

If I can recall, I think it was the Vauxhall Tigra that competed in the BTCC Touring Car Championships, and the bodywork is similar.

And that S2000 GT1 is really interesting. The lines on the GT2 car were much more graceful and cleaner in profile, and overall better to look at than the Amuse car.

I think Yvan Muller drove the Tigra in the Andros Ice Racing Trophy. It was replaced by the Astra which was a similar shape. I think they are still used.
