Real Racing Sim Sunday Endurance Race

Special Stage Route 5

General Info About Races: Our goal is to provide a racing simulation experience for everyone. Real off-road grip, weak slipstream, tire wear on, and yes, heavy damage! ABS is optional.

The potential for damage encourages respect and sportsmanship among everyone, making penalties unnecessary -- GT5's penalty system is easily gamed, often penalizes the victim and does nothing to further the "racing simulation".

The races are usually long enough to require at least one pit for tires and/or gas depending on the car. We also enjoy racing real life cars, and offer a wide range of racing experiences, from VW Buses to F1's, some tuned, some untuned, you name it. Feel free to check out the Facebook ( http://tinyurl.com/GT5-LPP ) page to post race suggestions and say hello!

Date & Time: Sunday August 19, 9:00 PM EDT / Sunday August 19, 6:00 PM PDT / Monday August 20, 1:00 AM GMT Time zone converter here

Special Stage Route 5

Room & Car Regulations:
(Standard) RUF RGT '00

Sports soft tires max
Engine rebuild allowed
Oil change allowed
No other horsepower modifications allowed
384 horsepower max
Approximately 288 ft-lb torque
1370 kilograms weight minimum
  • Heavy damage
  • No penalties
  • Weak slipstream
  • Tire wear/Fuel consumption on
  • Real grip reduction on wet/edge
  • Visual damage on
  • ABS available
  • All other assists off

Qualifying & Rolling Starts:
  • Qualifying begins promptly at 9:00 PM Eastern (refer to the countdown timer above if you're not on the east coast) and will last 15 to 30 minutes.
  • When you have a time you like, pull over to a secluded spot or sit in the pits, while we record your time. If you are unable to complete a qualifying lap in the time allotted, or if you leave or exit the track before we record your lap time, you will start at the back of the pack.
  • If lap times are not registering properly on my screen, I will tell everyone to keep track of their lap times.
  • At the start of the race, drivers will manually line up in formation for a ROLLING START. When the race timer counts down, and the race START message appears, DO NOT MOVE. Stay in the starting grid until the starting line up is called out.
  • We will manually line up in qualifying order. Once everyone is in the correct order, the driver in the pole position will set a pace not exceeding 60 MPH / 96 KPH, and begin the race by breaking that pace. Please do not overtake other drivers until the pole/pace car breaks pace and begins accelerating to race speed. Then, THE RACE IS ON.

Full Course Caution Until Clean Start:
  • This policy applies until we complete one continuous clean lap or two continuous minutes of clean racing on longer courses, without multi-car incidents. Cautions will only be available at the beginning of the race. We will repeat it as many times as necessary to get an incident free start.
  • If there are any multi-car incidents, where any driver is knocked well off the track by another driver, we will call a FULL COURSE CAUTION. The policy does not apply to individual drivers losing control, even if an offending driver has minor contact with other drivers who continue racing.
  • Once a caution is issued, please do not overtake any drivers, even if you are heading to the pits.
  • All drivers (not in the pits) will form-up for another Manual Rolling Start behind the current race leader, who will maintain pace speed until everyone is in formation again, and restart according the approach used at the beginning of the race.

Prizes:
  • First place (Level 9 car ticket, 5 car paints)
  • Second place (5 car paints)

Other Notes: For the most part, the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules & Guidelines apply with some changes.
  1. Bump drafting is allowed where it makes sense.
  2. Keep moving on the track, regardless of incident, unless cars behind you are approaching. Time, depending on severity of incident, will be added to your final race time once complaints are filed and replays checked.
  3. Drivers that are to be lapped are under no obligations to move out of the way, as long as they are not intentionally blocking. Most tracks have many sections to overtake. If you're faster, you'll find a way to pass.
  4. There will be no race restarts for people that disconnect, unless something extreme happens like half the room disconnects at the same time. Common sense will dictate what's appropriate. People that disconnect will still earn points (where applicable) depending on when they disconnected.
  5. Track boundaries are generally the same as those enforced by the GT5 penalty system and as defined by section 16: Offline Racing in the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules linked above. See the illustration below. Occasional unintended incursions will be tolerated, particularly if you visibly attempt to correct a bad line by braking, etc. or you have lost control of your vehicle. Patterns of abuse will not be tolerated, and complaints will be investigated as noted in #2 above.

Hey: Well I'm fun, fair & clean ,BUT not fast. I'd like to run with you guys but don't know if I have the speed. Can you give me an idea of what mid pack lap times would be in the RUF? Reason is that i've signed up for lots of clubs but can't run with front of the pack so no fun for me. GTP ID "luvtadrive" PSN ID. "livetiludye" Thanks.

I'm usually in the middle to bottom of the pack, and I think on average I'm getting 1:34 to 1:35 on Special Stage Route 5.

Cool: I think I can keep up with that time without wrecking the field or crashing out. Being able to tune with HP/WT. restrictions is a great way to go. It is how I would have set up a meet in my lounge if I could get clean ,sensible drivers to participate Please friend me so we can meet up & maybe get in practice, if you want, Maybe we help each other improve. Iam in MTC time., 3 hrs ahead of EST.

I was going to practice tonight to possibly race this one but realized I don't have the car and it's not in my used or online car dealership... Hopefully it will show up soon!! Will let you know asap if I can make it.

If I can get one of these without modifications before this point, I'll definitely participate in this race (it's at one of my favorite tracks!).

I can send you one if you want, np. Let me know :)

I'd like to join this race. Sounds like lots of fun if we can get a good amount of participants involved.

I believe I'm already friends with you alefin

Updated drivers list. Yeah, you're on my friends list :)

Sounds good! Send it over whenever is easiest for you. Are you looking for any cars or suits/helmets at the moment?

Two questions:
After doing only what was allowed (engine overhaul, no HP mods) the peak power on my car was 394. Was the limit of 384 a typo, or is use of the power limiter intended?

Are there any out-of-bounds areas on this track? I know of an area I hit getting into the first turn where I can go in quite hot, but it's in an area with white striped paint (as are many other edges of the track). The left side of the last two turns has this marking as well.

On another note, I got a headset, but I haven't been able to test it out yet. If it works, it should help me avoid some possible future on-track mishaps (one time I could've said "car inside" and it might have stopped someone from cutting down in front of me at Indy Road Course, which would've helped both of us.)

Power limiter is intended, yup.

No real off-track areas here. I'll take a look at the track later tomorrow and post again.

Update: I checked the track today and consulted with Bob, and Bob seems to think it's ok, so anywhere on the track is fair game. But be careful of pit lane guys lol.

The races on Sundays are slowly increasing in number of drivers, so I'm going to start adopting the first-come first-serve policy. Please be on time and I apologize if you're unable to get into the room on Sundays.

Please continue to post here and if the number of participants continues to grow, we will create a second room in the future to accommodate those that want to race.

I see you manually adjusted for the Countdown Clock error. I did the same for the VW Bus race, but included a warning about the reliability just in case it continues to shift.

To bad we lost that many racers. Do you think it was a GT5 bug that caused so many to DCD? Or was it just a bad connection on the users end?

Ty's connect is on and off so that wasn't too surprising.

Unfortunately, it seems like SKJ disconnects once every 10 minutes or something :(

And King left of his own accord.

I don't play a lot of other games online other than GT5 so I'm not sure if it's just GT5.

I hope everyone had fun, regardless of how much racing they did :)

there will always be some guys just joking around like KingBestJr
dont use wireless lan, as password protected it can cause continuous disconnects
