Realism Simulation Rollox

GT5 is boring for me and lacks life and feel... Forza is better and closer to what i feel is a sim but is still dull.
None of the above games feels like you driving a real car not even near but what Shift brings to the table is pure fun and action and the cars move around on the tarmac what is great and makes you feel like your racing.
That just my thinking on the the first shift... now let me get my palms around the second one ha ha bring it on.

Graphics are better than GT5
Sounds Way better than GT5

That makes a better game to me and im using a DriveFX on the xbox and loving it.

I agree that Shift 2 is much more fun than GT5. Although not nearly as realistic, it's certainly more exciting, and the AI puts up a big fight.

As far as graphics are concerned, however, GT5 is prettier (on my PS3 anyway). 1080p for the win. The car and track models are much nicer in GT5. They seem too... sterile though. For example, after a 24 hour race in GT5, the track and cars were still clean and pretty, something that would never happen in real life. In Shift 2, you get debris on the track, dirt and bugs on your windscreen, and good damage modeling. It's a more realistic representation of racing in real life.

And the sounds in Shift 2 blow GT5 out of the water, no question there. Soundtrack is lame though.

I agree the racing is more fun in Shift, no contest. On the other hand, the graphics are definitely worse, and while the sound effects (brakes, rocks, etc) are better, the engine sounds are just as hit or miss as in GT5.

I'll give GT5 the upper hand in graphics for the premiums, it's physics model and the wide range of cars offered. I love having a game i can do laps at Le Mans in a LMP/Group C car. The tracks look pretty good in Shift2 so i say thats even.

The actual racing in Shift2 blows away GT5 and would love to have the GT cars and the upgrades, rims, painting, vinyl's available. GT5 has turned into a game i do a couple Time Trials race some bobs when away from the house and thats about it.

Well...

GT5 sure is more realistic, but 'd put it this way:
Fun > realism.

I'm not saying that arcade games are better than sims, but if I have to decide between a game that's a bite more realstic and one that's more fun despite being less realistic, well, I'll take the fun, please :D

Just depends on what you consider 'fun'. To me, realism is fun. 5mph collisions causing cars to flip through the air and handling on par w/ a wet sponge are not things I readily associate with 'fun'. That's not to say Shift 2 isn't fun, because it is to a degree, it's just not as fun for me as GT5.

I think the general feeling is this is a far better game than GT5, hopefully PD take notice and we dont get such a sterile game with GT6.
