It may be difficult to monitor everyone having the same Gearing, so will take an element of trust and some replay watching if we are not entirely sure of others having what we have (will) set.

Actually it will be quite simple. Say we set 238mph as the speed limit in the draft. When you gear 7th to show 238 at the top in the transmission settings the car will literally not go faster than that (without a bump or push) which will be against the rules anyway. So if any driver is caught doing more that 238mph we know they are not withing regulations.

It will take some replay watching, but if we stress the consequences I'd hope everyone would comply.

I do agree on lowering the drafting speeds down more to 238mph, as otherwise it'd be easy for a slower car to use the draft to stay with a faster car. Perhaps we should try lowering it a tiny bit more, but I guess we'll see when we test.

Any idea what time you guys want to test today? I'll be in my lounge for that time. (I'm free from now though)

EDIT: If you wanted to see the 10 different colours of FGT, they're quoted in the OP here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=163844

I'll be available around 9 your time

Lounge is up from now, I'm currently testing handling/tyre wear for some ride height adjustments I made.

EDIT: Done with testing that handling/tyre wear. Fuel ran out after 38 1/3 laps (coming out of turn 2). I forgot that the 36 1/2 laps from before was with higher BHP.

Now I'm just waiting for anyone else to turn up.

...annnd room's closed. We finished sorting out speeds etc for Indy speedway, and decided on the following settings for the transmission: Reset transmission to default, then set the max speed at the bottom to 236, then put your final gear at 4.212, and 7th gear at 1.366 . The other six gears can be set however you want. This will limit the top speed of your car to about 232.5 mph, and works well.

Hi Knelly remember me :) Let me know what time you decide on I might be able to drive the pace car for you and help a little if I am able to be online. I have driven a pace car many times so let me know if you need this.

Yes mate, you run the current FGT series yeah? Your very kind offer is most appreciated, and will be taken. Someone who has driven pace car, and understands the FGT's is more than welcome.

Thank you Sir 👍

EDIT : Good testing btw guys, sounds spot on for Indy. Now to move to Road courses (or Daytona).

So it seems like there's a lot of UK guys that are interested in this... not so many American's so far lol. We should start an "interest list" for UK and US so we can get a idea of how many drivers we have interested up until we get a start date set and a sign up list posted.

For the pace car, since a driver has stepped forward, road courses should be the Honda Civic and the Indy 500 should be the Chevy Camaro as these are the real life pace cars. Civic should be on sports tires, maybe mediums. Camaro it doesn't really matter for tires, but the pace speed for the start of the 500 is 80 mph and restarts are about 100mph

Dont forget to actually create the sign up thread on the racing series section as a big chunk of racers never look on here. I didnt until I saw knellys name and remembered his indycar idea. Start your main thread and the drivers will pour in from the states and UK.
I would prefer to drive my actual pace car if I can (skyline pace with lights) because I wont crash it but wont insist if you want a Camaro or civic. The pace car does look cooler though :)
I think they do 1 parade lap then 2 pace laps and go when they cross the start/finish line, is this correct?

This will go in the right place when testing completes. And I love that pace car as well ;)

Might not be on for testing tho as birthday weekend coming up ..... 37 .... :yuck:

Its a shame only us and uk-drivers can paticipate... ;(

Guess i'll have to change my citisenship! :embarrassed:

That's not the case mate. It just easier saying that right now while we sort things. The more the merrier if you can make ether day :)

~Still watching thread~

Though I am horrific at driving the FGT. I was thinking of starting a FGT series but I'm holding off, this sounds like a better concept and run series then I could muster... good luck guys!

When we've got the rest of the testing nailed down, we'll create a sign up thread? Seem to be getting a lot of interest :)

A couple of things:

I'm moving house very soon, and will be quite busy for the next couple of weeks or so. I'd like to finish up our main testing before I move.

Will we use the IndyCar rule for blocking (The lead car isn't allowed to block the inside when entering a corner) or the F1 rule that GTP likes to use? (You're allowed 1 blocking move and then have to hold your line while giving the other car space if need be.)

Will we be allowing bump drafting at Daytona Speedway?

Is anyone up for testing at Daytona speedway tonight?

Once we sort out Daytona, I think the rest of the tracks will be easy to sort out on our own, without the need of someone else to test with. Though a limited top speed may still be needed on some tracks to lower the effect of the draft.

I'll be around tonight I reckon mate. Birthday today, so just waiting for people to stop doting on me ;). Will be some point after Big Brother, but Daytona testing sounds good.

Don't think bump drafting should be allowed (as it wouldn't IRL) but how do you stop it?? If people are chasing you down, they are going to BD. Need a majority vote on this one.

Happy birthday!

Yeah, I'd probably not allow bump drafting, and would try to find a top speed to limit all cars to, so that they're able to get enough of a run to make a move round the outside of the turns (maybe 7-8mph faster than solo speeds?), as I'm sure the inside will be the place to be. I don't think there'll be much overtaking without a higher limited speed though, and it'd mostly happen in the pits/getting back up to speed, or on restarts.

I'll be available after Would I Lie To you?, which ends at 10pm like Big Brother.

Thanks mate 👍

Going to check Indycar @ Daytona to see if there is any data .... although, Dominos has just turned up mmmmmmm

I'm free now. I'll open my lounge when you get on. (If I don't notice you're on straight away, that'll be because I'm watching stuff on youtube.)

Blocking rules in IndyCar is the same as GTP, you're allowed one move. If you make a double move it's a black flag. Also, bump drafting should be prohibited IMO.

I will be moving back across the country around October 10th. I may have to hold off on starting the US series until then. For some reason my modem keeps randomly rebooting and the internet company can't seem to figure it out.

Reboot your modem and router and clear the system online cache in the options menu. If that doesn't work, research the ports you need to open in GT5 at portforward.com and enter your IP address into the DMZ in your router. I used to have connection problems but I did all that and I have no connection issues now with GT5. My only issue is unreliability from my ISP =(
