Really Stupid Question

ok this may seem like a really stupid question but the other day i was typing out a letter in word and for no reason when ever i would use the spacebar to move a letter, it would just erase it. in the end i had to save my work and reload word to stop it.
anyone know what it was all about?

It sounds like you've got OVR on. Normally Word is on Insert mode, but it sounds like you've switched on the overwrite mode. Do you have "OVR" written on the status bar at the bottom of the screen? If you do, just press Insert to change it back.
