Im on a DFGT and i tend to redline every corner i drift. I know you can use the stock transmission to stop that but then i tend to bog out very often. Anyone got any tips?

Redlining a drift isn't always a bad thing. It produces loads of tyre smoke. Juts make your average drifting gear and the next gear (s) up fairly close so you can change up and extend the drift without losing too much RPM

You could try just lengthening your gears a little, if you have the fully customisable tranny that is. I usually buy that tranny and the fully customisable suspension before I do anything else to my drift cars.

You are supposed to redline! Actually you are supposed to hit the rev limit or the top of the redline when the red-light flashes under the RPM meter. I think some people are using Initial D as their gauge of Drifting.

Its not always a good thing because when you redline you lose power and cant extend the drift sometimes

Drifting is all about throttle control and balance, keeping the cars rev range at its peack power output (witch is not on the limiter )

there is also not set rules to follow when drifting, meaning no one can tell you its wrong or right use what ever you feel the best.

If you can link that dreaded corner that's just out of reach and have to hit the limiter every now and then .. do it.

I try to tune my gears to where if Im going flat out around a corner the red shift indicator is up but not quite redlining. Maybe try lengthening your gears like others have said. Good luck. 👍

Hey man I can give you all the information you need to tune your transmission. Hitting the limiter is bad, you want to always have the engine in the best powerband. Hitting the limiter causes the engine to lose power as the limiter is limiting the amount of fuel that the engine receives effectively choking it so you don't throw a rod out the case.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I bounce my rev limiter. For example on a turn that requires 2nd gear, I enter in 3rd gear, E brake, which will scrub the speed Down to 2nd gear, from there I'm on The accelerator 70-90%. Of course I'm using sport soft which allows me to Drift at better angles and speed so maybe that's it.

I sometimes redline on porpose.
For instance today I was drifting with a r32 in my maserati gran turismo S. At tskuba During the 2nd corner (the ones with the chicanes) I was drifting too fast. I just slammed into 2nd and red lined the entire corner.

My point is that some times redlining is good. If used correctly it can make you drift better instead of worse.

Use comfort hards as they are much easier to practice in. They seem to react differently when red lining.

Yeah I tried comfort hard but at the HP I run I spin out when going for aggressive angle and speed. Now if I run mostly stock on my car, then I can seem to do better on comfort tires. So I guess it depends on HP for me. If PD had multiple settings that could be saved I could run a set up for tandem and Solo high speed drift rather than have multiple cars or having to keep switching settings.

That's what I do sometimes, slamming down gears makes the car you're drifting slow down more rapidly in a drift than just trying to brake, gaining more control.

Redlining in drifting, isn't what you really want to do, because (as a lot stated before) it is not the ideal power band. Redlining to slow down? Just tap the ebrake, and you're done... Or increase your angle.

At some points you will score in real life by red-lining (just past a wall, or in a place your revs echo a bit), cause it will give an overall boost to your style... I don't see this happening in GT5 really. Ingame, my advice is, just shift up :)
