So my latest livery was this;

5125193143870849032_23.jpg

Which is based on the below;

timthumb.php

As you can see there is blacked off section behind the front wheel and behind the little barge board, when I tried to recreate this, I couldn't properly make the barge board white again, even when I fiddled with the depths and the angles I couldn't get it working properly so that the physically forward barge board was a different colour to the vents behind them.

Am I doing anything wrong? This isn't the only car it applies to but it's the best example I have, any suggestions?

If you're using the standard left side or right side decal placement options it might not be possible. Perhaps try going for a top down view, setting to project based on camera location, and orienting the camera as a steep angle so it's only just projecting on the body.

It might not work exactly like that, but literally coming at it from different angles might yield better results. Painting the Rear wing and bootlid of the BMW VGT can be a similar nightmare because it's not a separate wing - the depth and angle settings don't really work, most of the time I set the view to an odd position, and try and get the decal to 'skim' the body without then projecting onto anything else.

Ahh that's a brilliant idea thanks! It never crossed my mind to try something like that :P

If you've already played around with the depths and angles without any joy, all i can suggest is to re-decal the bargeboards themselves specifically with shapes that cover only those sections and using only a shallow depth as to not re-colour the matt-black section behind it.

That works but only to a point, as the layers bleed across as they seem to exist at the same depth, I guess this is due to the curvature of the inside of the car and barge board

Top down works on the Aston, much trial end error on projection settings though.

I needed to use multiple shapes and patch work the flying butress front wing, I have done two cars now and it is a hateful task!

Edit pictures added, to show the bleeding I suffered, it won't be noticed in a replay, maybe a scape though...
