Probably just a placeholder. I usually take things like that with a grain of salt. Knowing how PD is, I won't believe it's a real release until it's on the psn store.

Destiny is in September. July makes sense since they'll avoid Uncharted which releases in August.
I hope they release it in July and not September (don't think they'll wait till Fall, Sony will release something else then).
They'll be breathing a huge sigh of relief with the news of Red Dead being delayed.

Looking on the expanding of the beta again I assume they still have few months just to work on the network issues.

I'd say November, just like the first date. I suspect that date was based on timing it for maximum impact on holiday sales. It seems like they've still got plenty of stuff to work on, and so holding it until the start of the holiday sales season would be a reasonably smart move. They'll likely get a boost of people buying it on brand name alone.

These are all placeholders. I asked them and the publisher don't know the release date. (asked more than a month ago)
Maybe dates like that results in more pre-orders because people got used to 29/12 as a default placeholder date.

Yeah, Sony will release its biggest racing game exclusive in the middle of summer. We're two months away without an official release date, and outside of a handful of pre-roll ads in UK cinemas, it's had almost zero marketing push.

We — as in GTPlanet — are a tiny percentage of the general gaming public. Even if every one of our users was active and purchased GT6, that'd be only 1/20 of the player base. To sell in big numbers, a product needs to be visible to Joe Gamer, not to those that are already very familiar with the franchise.
