Why have I been getting this error in a pop-up window at random times today while remote racing on my PC.

Now I can't even get the remote race screen to load. It just loads a blank white screen. It died right before the end of a race I was running (the PS3 is still going just fine...nothing has changed on that end).

Give this a shot.

For anyone using Firefox and getting error messages from GT.com:

I'm not positive this is what fixed it but it's worth passing on. Open a new tab, type/paste "about:config" in the address bar, hit enter and click the "I'll be careful, I promise" box, filter for "browser.xul.error_pages.enabled" and change (double-click) it to False. Restart Firefox and let me know if the problem(s) continue.
And that last bit still applies, too. So far no one has confirmed or denied that this actually helps yet.

Edit:
gran-turismo.com
The online service of Gran Turismo 5 will undergo maintenance during the following hours:

Start: 02/24/2011 22:00 EST
Finish: 02/24/2011 23:00 EST

During the maintenance, it will not be possible to connect to any of the online services.

*Please note that the exact times of the maintenance may slightly vary

It is back up now! :D

Unfortunately, I think I need to exit the standby more and reconnect because only the time goes up and nothing else moves
Just notice they have v1.07 update too.. Guess I have to wait till I get off work :(

i use safari on mac and get the same error over and over and fricking over....

thursday I raced from work all day with no problems, but at home, it must be something with safari

i just went down and checked my ps3 and the race was running even though it appeared to not start the race....frustrating....

so i fired up my xp pro vm and tried IE and kept getting the same errors, then tried firefox and its ran 3 races flawlessly

i guess pd didnt test other popular browsers

Just to clarify, you made the changes and then completely closed and restarted Firefox?

One other thing you could try is using a different server. When I've had problems with us.gran-turismo.com, sometimes switching to eu.gran-turismo.com has helped.

FYI - I've been running races all morning on the US site without issue.

Yes - completely closed out. Switched to IE8 64 bit...ran a race but browser was very slow on US GT site. Closed out and started again on Firefox after about 20 minutes and seems to be fine now.
