Replays Missing Effects

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it an because of ray tracing mode?

Basically when you go to view a replay and want to take a photo the replay is missing spark effects and also flames from the exhausts - sometimes you can capture a bit of flame but it's never as good as when you were actually racing and also it is mis-aligned with the exhausts.

I wondered if it was affected by setting to raytracing or performance mode? Or is it a bug?
 
It's also due to the game not being deterministic (like trackmania) and replays are literally re-plays of the race where the game takes all inputs and does the race again. So some effects will at least appear different compared to when you did the race.
 
thank you for this post - i have actually used both graphic modes (PS5) and the problem exists on both.

things like flyovers, helicopters, and fireworks never seem to show up in a replay. i know i got to see the flyovers in a replay once, but its often not there when i want to do a picture.

the other issue is that exhaust flares, tire smoke/water sprays will not show up unless you pause the playback at the exact moment. if you try to do slow-mo up to one of those events, it won't happen. like, you can hit play and watch the thing happen, but if you try to sneak up on it, it never happened.

seems wild they put so much effort into these details and the photo mode and strip them out

I could honestly do with less camera angles or 'dynamic' replays just to have the replay play out like the race. If I spot something cool and note the lap to take a photo after, and it not be there in the replay, it's disappointing. Also getting a great angle for a video clip, rewind to get it timed right, and it's now a different angle altogether.

For me they've lost more than what is gained reworking this.

Ah - I was going to ask if that's how they worked. I can understand this causing some variation... but it seems sparks, for example, are entirely absent from the replay so far as I can tell.

Hadn't noticed those (flyovers, heli etc.)! It's bonkers to not include those in the photo mode, they would make some of the coolest photos.
