Retire Bob Offline While He is Racing Online?

Has anyone tried the following?

Certain bob is shared online;
Play GT5 offline, retire that bob, replace him with a new bob

Go back online

What would happen? Would the old bob become a ghost? Money down the drain as well?

Unfortunately yes I've done this, you don't even have to retire them, simply setting them as offline and saving will be enough to screw you over.

Until you take your ps3 back online, they will remain available for others to use, and you'll even be able to see their credits increase through the website. You'll never be able to cash them in though.

Just tried it myself. I wasn't able to retire my B-spec driver while he is shared online.

That means if you have shared all 6 bobs and for some reason you cannot go online anymore, you won't be able to run B-spec locally.
