Reusing Menu Music in GT5?

I'm pretty sure no one else has talked about this yet. OK, have you noticed the music when in Simulation mode under Original Tracks OR World Circuits. Once I was reading the little blurbs about the tracks and all of the sudden, I knew what the song was, but this was the first time I had been in the menu. I finally realized that it was a revamped version of the song that played in the Honda dealer in GT1 or 2. A few songs have done this. They have a new age beat to them and if you listen, it's almost like there are little bits of the old songs that are being dubbed over almost. I was thinking, "will they do this in GT5 as well, or will they get all NEW music for the menus?" I also wanted to know if anybody else had noticed this and what their take on reusing music in GT5 or VGT or GT4.2 or whatever its being called.

I too have noticed that and I kind of like it. Actualy, almost all of the menu-tunes are re-makes of old ones.

I loved the GT2 menu-music. :)

And to answer your post:

I think it's very likely that we'll see (or hear rather) re-makes of the menu-music. And I don't mind that one bit.

Call me crazy, but I think the menu music in every GT game except the first one blows. I liked how cheezy but listenable the rock-style synth music in GT1 was. But ever since, the menu music has just been funny, but god awful.

Yeah, I noticed there's a menu theme in GT4 that's a remix of the Subaru theme in the japanese version of GT1 (not sure on american, I haven't played that in forever). It starts off with super high bass and then the really low bass kicks in and the theme is just superb. I absolutely adore that song. Someone needs to make some MP3's :D

While I did enjoy GT1's electronica, most of the revamped music in GT4 was actually quite enjoyable to my ears. I even saved a few of the music tracks on my PC. The majority of music was rather soft, but I didn't mind the mellow music. GT2's menu music was okay. After a while, I thought it was not really good. I didn't really like some of the blues-type music. GT3 had some nice music, with my favorite being the License Test theme. I believe that track is called "Concentration." GT4 has some good menu music. You normally hear five different themes when in Gran Turismo Mode. The first one sounds like a slower, more hip version of GT3's Tuning Shop theme. The second theme is a variation of Gran Turismo 2's music when you save a game, load a game, or trade cars. The third theme (which is my personal favorite) is kind of a variation of a song I heard before, but not in the American GT3, but it also features the main menu in GT2's Simulation Disc. The fourth theme is a much slower variation of GT3's License Center theme that kind of grew on me, and liked it. The fifth theme is pretty new to me. It's all mellow and nice, probably music better suited to checking out or taking photos of your GT4 rides.

Many of the themes are revampings of old tunes in GT4. Is that a bad thing? To me, not at all. As long as they aren't getting butchered. I like stuff like hard trance and all, but I'm also a mellow person, so I have my fair share of music interests such as some soft love songs, R&B, even serene melodies. It would be nice to hear a soundtrack featuring all the menu music, or at least many of the favorites. If GT5 had renditions of older GT songs, I'd probably want to hear a extended remix of the Nissan theme from GT1, maybe a slower rendition of the Honda/Acura theme from GT1, a more pimpy hip-hop version of GT2's North City... I want PD to play around a bit with this, if they decide not to make brand new menu music.

Yeah, It was bugging me last night, so I went and dug up my GT and GT2 games and listed to the songs. Yeah, quite a few are similar. If I was going to keep one for GT5, the Toyota Theme Song in GT1 was cool. Matches Toyota's high quality type of thing. :dopey:

I agree.

I'm completely sick of this generic cheesy Jazz that a number of Japanese racing games (GT, Sega GT etc...) typically seem to use. Gaaarrghhh :banghead:

The worst tune, and I mean it's really bad, is the license center music when you choose what license to do. That bugs the crap out of me.

Ive heard worse :P Enthusia menu music.. now THAT drives me crazy. I like arcade mode menu music in GT1,2,3,4 :) But GT mode menu music simply makes me wanna sleep, especially in GT4. Don't really like it.

I always turn all the in game music off, including the menu music... I can then play whatever music I choose on my stereo...

Well if it bothers you that much fair enough ;)

The only game that comes to mind that I've turned off all the music was Burnout 3. My god that music was crap! Alot of the music in NFS : U2 is crap also.

LOL... It doesn't bother me that much... It's just nice to be able to listen to whatever music you like while racing... Also, you get better sound seperation when you keep the sound effects and music seperated from eachother...

Whoever does the menu music is hit and miss. I like most of the menu music in Gran Turismo, but when they redo tracks, usually the original is better. I especially dislike the Replay Theater tune, and the rearrangement of GT3's License Test music, while JohnBM likes it. Eh, we all have our own taste. I went nuts for the technoistic remix of Moon over the Castle, having never heard the original. It did take much too long to get going, but I think it's because Polyphony was going to have a longer race presentation before each race. We'll see in the next GT, I'm sure, and I'm hopeful that this track makes it over. Or I get the option to install my own tracks, so I can record my own version.

And since taste is taste, a root beer to the person who suggested that Gran Turismo 5 have all the tracks from all the previous versions of Gran Turismo! That's exactly what I was going to say. But optionally, so you could turn off certain tracks, or leave all the old tracks off if you like.

Gran Turismo 5 should have the best music ever. Since it's going to be a platinum level game, it should have platinum level music.
