Because renting a server is too expensive, and getting someone to host is likely to end in tears, I have devised a new competition that avoids the malarkey of organisation that is online racing, instead based on one-lap performance.
Basically, it's a hot-lap competition, where you post your best lap. However, you will also score points based on your position on the grid:
1st: 25
2nd: 18
3rd: 15
4th: 12
5th: 10
6th: 8
7th: 6
8th: 4
9th: 2
10th: 1
We will run the same mod over a season, and you will have a week to post your time.
Submission will generally require a setup (svm) and a replay (vcr) file zipped up-this is purely to check whether your lap is valid, and whether your setup isn't taking advantage of some glitch (in one (league) mod, there is a setup glitch where if you set the front spring rate to it's stiffest, the car will suffer no understeer or oversteer whatsoever).
Generally, I will post next week's track in the current competition, so you all have time to download, and while it's difficult to police, I ask that you do not practice in that week-you should be focused on the track at hand!
Also, I will generally allow the previous week's winner to select the next track, and the season winner to select the next mod, as reward.
If you are interested, post your interest here. Most likely, we will wait for FSONE 2009 for season one, however if it takes too long we will probably run F1 1993.
