Rice always prevails!!

I was bored last night, so I decided to try somthing fun out. I bought myself a nice used 89 Mazda Protege 4 door, equipped it w/ the race muffler, stage 1 turbo, chip, port and polish (which brought it up to a mammouth 197hp) sport suspension, single clutch, race flywheel, sport trans, SS tires, full weight reduction and the race body (for the added rice effect) and threw myself in w/ the Muscle cars from the golden era. First I raced em on seattle full, and it was pretty funny. Im w/ em for the first second, but as soon as they gain traction they just TAKE off and im left there staring at all their tail lights. But as soon as I hit the corners, thats where my car comes alive and im back in the pack. By the time I hit the long straight on the back part of the track im ahead of everyone, but if theres one thing a muscle car knows how to do, its go in a straight line. haha. So in no time im passed by 3 or 4 of em, but luckily theres some more turns before the finish line so im able to weave my way thru traffic and come out w/ the win. hehe.

Then i tried racing em on Laguna, that one was a little closer, it had the GT500 racing in it, and that car can drive! He certainly made it difficult for me, but rice always prevails, and i was able to pull out a win. hehe. It was pretty funny, in the first lap, after the last turn before the main straight to the finish, coming out it me and the gt500 were dead even, then all of a sudden he just took off like i was going in reverse. luckily on the second lap i had a little more breathing room before the finish line so i didnt have to worry about trying to fight him off.

Man... good luck. Even if you´re just describing your race in good faith you´re bound to get replies/discussion/break in the harmony when you use the "rice" word.

What´s with that anyway? What´s the history behind that concept? Is rice pointing out to Japanese cars specificaly? Is that why people say rice? Labelling cars due to food habits?
Or is it relating to pumped up cars?

Had some more question but I have to go now.

To be concluded...

OK, fair enough. Guess I should add a disclaimer for the people that take things way too seriously. I use the word "rice" in total fun. Its in no way meant to slam japanese cars or make any kind inuendos. My car won so it obviously wasnt that bad, hehe :) What about what I said about muscle cars? that they only know how to in a straight line, im sure someone could jump on me for that one too, its just all in good fun so i hope everyone can accept it as such....

I thought so.

But my questions were honest. Do you usually hear it refering to Japanese cars or just concerning general abusive tunning or crazily tunned Japanese cars or what?

Yeah, my avatar is a screen shot. Ive got a tv tuner card in my PC and can hook my ps2 up to it and take screen captures w/ it :) And as far as the definition of "rice" goes. That can bring on as big a debate as even throwing the R word out there in the first place. haha. Everyone has a different definition for it, and im not even gonna get into it cuz that WILL bring on an unwanted debate of everyone disagreeing w/ everyone else and clogging up my thread. I just wanted to share my David Vs. Goliath story of a 197hp car going up against cars w/ almost 4X that amount, and coming out the victor :)

Yeah I really gotta hand it to you. Lose to the mightier but pass them on the bends, the immortal power VS skill... excelent, some more work and you could do a great movie about fast cars racing each other - at least they would turn (ouch). ;)

I asked about your avatar cause I wanted to make my avatar from a replay screenshot but don´t know how. Haven´t even tried actually. Think I´ll give it a shot

Taken from the Muscle Car: Seattle race :D.

Yes, it's GT2, and no, it isn't from am emulator. I have a Dazzle system that I can connect my PSX to and play on the monitor. In this case (and since that produces about a half-second of lag) I just ran that race on my TV, then played the replay back on the Dazzle and saved it as an .AVI. Then I opened it up in Windows Media Player, took a screenshot, and downsized it. I have 3 replays of that car as well as 3 from the E55 AMG, because i was to make a GT2 video.

They're huge, and I'm on 56k. If you really want them, I could send the cllaboration of all 6 (52mb) as opposed to all of them separately (356mb / 144mb zipped). I'd send them overnight, but I could do it.

Wow that´s big indeed. Never mind, it´s too much trouble but thanks anyway. Still I won´t give up on the matter; seeing replays would be a great way to compare driving styles of GTP gamers

how much would it cost to run my PS1 to my comp. monitor...............what else would I need besides those two things?

-I have been thinking of doing this, but I don't think the people at RadioShack would know what i would need to buy if I asked them:lol:

The people at RadioShack should direct you to one of these. It's not what i have, but it's made by the same people. I'm not really sure what a TV card for your PC would cost.

I souped up my '89 Protege, it's possible to win the Super Speedway event against the GT All-Stars.

It's the best power-to-weight ratio of any FF car.

Dont pat yourself too hard on the back, i beat the good old boys at seattle full with my yaris at 168hp. Next up, laguna ;)

Last night after viewing gt2´s intro (I still say it´s one of the best intro´s ever) I finnaly decided to take action; you see whenever I watch that intro I can´t help but wonder that I´d have a lot more fun driving that corvette diving into laguna seca than my corvette. So I took the cuda made him stockagain except for the things I couldn´t remove (weight reductions, some hp) and took him to laguna seca. Man what a blast drifting trough those corners.
My biggest surprise was when I looked at the stock´s suspension ride height. That thing looked like a facking school bus... fun fun fun.
All my cars are made for speed and performance, all of them have stiff suspensions (except for rally cars wich I prefer with the rally feel) and super soft tyres including muscle cars wich get slightly softer higher suspensions still...

Weel after this test things won´t be the same. I had already figured out that muscle cars weren´t made for cornering and when I mixed that with those kind of tyres and suspension I got them cornering in a very boring way. Screw that, scew performance, I wanna swing right and left till I trow up. Stock suspensions and sports tyres here I come... well just a little negative camber I guess :)

I hear ya. I bought that ***** ugly gtx, and pitched around laguna. A real blast, although a slow-mo blast:cool:

Yes Japanese cars are great on the turns but drive a V8 and you'll just grin from ear to ear when you pass the 1000 lbs. cars with the quickness of a cheeta. thats right now just griiiiiiiin:D
