RIMMS and DIMMS

Can I use a RIMM ram and DIMM ram on the same computer? I was look at the one currently on my computer and it's a RIMM style and tried to put in a DIMM ram in the other slot. I turned on the computer and went to system and still had same amount of ram.

Also where do I find the dial-up networking in winxp. In win98 i went to start>programs>accessories>communications>dial-up.... Where could i find this in xp?

only if the computer has the slots for both, but then you have to enable both in the BIOS of the computer I believe. . .

It's in the Network and Dial Up Connections.

Start > Settings > Control Panel

You can't have both RIMM and DIMM slots active on your motherboard. RIMMs are for Rambus RDRAM memory, mostly used for Pentium 4 systems. DIMMs are for DDR SDRAM. Two different technologies, two different types of memory. I'm surprised that you could even get a RDRAM stick to fit in a DIMM slot.

RIMMs would fit in the slot. On my parent's 1.3GHz celeron board you can put RIMMs in it, but you can't use them at the same time with DIMMs. Also, with a RIMM, if you have any free slots it wont work. You have to put a CIMM in that slot, unless they all have RIMMs in them.
