RIP Eddie Van Halen

I'm in a loss for words. Van Halen got me into hard rock/metal. Always wanted to see to see VH live but never got the chance. And now I will never get too.

Rest In Peace Eddie Van Halen! Because of gt4’s US intro I and millions of young kids was introduced to an amazing musician!
I didn't even know that was Van Halen.... I never got into rock as a kid but that song I always enjoyed.

Rest in Peace big guy...I know you're up there with all the other greats composing amazing music.

Today, we rock under one symbol!! ♥

Shocking honestly, didn't knew he was battling cancer... Sad to see another legend gone...

...:(

RIP EVH. Erupting into heaven.

Edit: I remember reading an interview Mark Tremonti did during a press tour of his album Cauterize some years ago. If you didn't know, Eddie Van Halen's son played bass for Mark's solo band. During some of the gigs, Eddie would be at the back of the venue watching the show, and that motivated Tremonti to perform even better, apparently.

I always want to see Van Halen live, too. But now, I never will...

I got my driver's license in August of 1981 when I turned 16. I went to a Christian school but two of my friends would sit out in my car each morning before class and we would listen to "that evil rock music". At the time we were listening to the most popular stuff, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Styx, Journey, etc. Me as a KISS fan was about as far into harder music as I had gotten at the time.

One morning I can't remember which one of my friends it was, brought Van Halen I. When "Eruption" started I said "WTH is this????" and I was hooked from that point on. That lead me to Judas Priest, Metallica, Slayer, etc., etc. So that first introduction to Van Halen really shaped my musical influences and choices to this day

Thankfully I did get the chance to see Van Halen live three times. First time was with David Lee Roth on the 1984 tour in Birmingham, Alabama. I remember that because I got to hear my favorite Van Halen song "Unchained" live. The other two times were with Sammy Hagar. But each time I can still remember how hearing EVH live was just a magical experience and something I will never, EVER forget.

Had a great Van Halen playlist all day at work today for all 200 employees to hear.

Did anyone watch the SRO Indanapolis 8HR race on Sunday? Belle Haven ran an Aston GT4 in the EVH Frankenstein livery. Pretty crazy.

I don't know how long it will be on but for a limited time on Sirius/XM radio the "Deep Tracks" channel will be a 24/7 tribute channel to Eddie Van Halen. It's channel 27 on my Sirius radio.

Like everyone else a lot of Van Halen suggestions have been popping up when I go to Youtube. Well this one popped up tonight. It's from 1978 when Van Halen were in London at the Hammersmith Odeon in support of Black Sabbath. Imagine Black Sabbath having to follow this. It's audio only but it's very good quality.
