12 Time Pro Bowl and 10 Time All Pro Linebacker Junior Seau was found dead in his Oceanside, CA home from apparent self inflicted gunshot wounds. He was discovered by his housekeeper.

More Details Inside

I was just about to post that. CTE, no doubt. He's had a little more than a screw loose for the last few years. It's tragic.

Yeah, poor guy. Shot himself in the chest (ouch) so that his brain could be kept for research. Didn't he try to drive off a cliff last year?

Speaking from experience, major depression is a terrible thing.

That's terrible, RIP Junior Seau. Saw his mother speaking on ESPN and she made me cry for the first time in a while.

RIP Junior. You were one of the best of all time.

Such a shame that all these guys are committing suicide after their careers are over. The NFL, NCAA, high school, and peewee football organizations need to do something about this........NOW. We all know that for years they ignored major concussion syndromes and the like and only now, after all these guys kill themselves are we finding out just how serious the brain injuries are that football lifers have. New helmets, new padding, new tackling rules......WHATEVER IT TAKES. If nothing is done there is no telling how many more retired and current footballers will do this. The fact that Duerson ( sp? ) shot himself in the chest in order to preserve his brain for research is sad, just plain old sad.

Junior Seau was an excellent analyst no doubt. I really think he needs to be in the Pro football Hall of Fame. R.I.P. Junior:(

There has to be a 5 year grace period between retirement and induction, I think he will be first ballot next year personally

It is definitely a sad day when we loose anybody. I just can't understand how anyone could take their life knowing that they have kids that they will be leaving behind. I'm not trying to sound insensitive, but he not only gave up on his life, but he gave up on his kids as well. IMO, family life is way more important in determining a man's legacy than his work or any accolades that he may do on a football field. I can't help but remember him first for his lack of commitment to his family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I agree with you, however he claimed he was asleep at the wheel when he drove off the cliff. still it's tragic, I listened to my local sportsnet radio station and the host said he took a shotgun and shot his heart out.

He shot himself in the chest to preserve his brain for testing. CTE for sure.

I started watching him back in the early 90's and was glad to watch him as a Charger for so many years. He did good things for the team and I know the Chargers will be playing for him this year.Very sad to hear he ended his life this way.I never would have thought he would do something like this, but CTE can make you do things you wouldn't imagine.
I'm going to put his #55 on my Chargers hat in remembrance of him.

R.I.P. my fellow Charger.

Hard to hold him responsible though, CTE is really a nasty disease, and can make people do things that sometimes don't really make sense. It's a cross sport issue, football and hockey players are suffering from it, and it seems to be just being brushed under the rug by the NFL and NHL (moreso by the NHL in my opinion).

A real tragedy that he had to go this way, hopefully his decision to leave his brain intact can lead to some studies on what lead to his likely case of CTE.

RIP.
