Made famous in the last 20 years by his role as Frank Drebin in The Naked Gun saga, his work as a 'serious' actor has also been significant throughout history. Thanks for being a silly, charming, gentelman.

nooooooooooooo!
"Just came to tell you both good luck, we're all counting on you..."
My favorite quote of his.

RIP

One of the funniest guys alive.
Leslie Nielsen Dies

Leslie Nielsen, who made audiences laugh with his ridiculous seriousness and deadpan deliveries in the absurd scenes of comedy films like Airplane! and Naked Gun has died. He was 84.

His agent confirmed that the actor died Sunday near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., surrounded by his "lovely wife and friends" at 5:34 p.m. ET, due to complications of pneumonia.

Nielsen had been hospitalized for nearly two weeks as a result of pneumonia, his agent said.

"Just in this last 48 hours, the infection has gotten too much," his nephew Doug Nielsen told Canadian radio station CKNW. "He just fell asleep and passed away."
R.I.P. :(

Darn funny Canadian. Naked Gun movies, Airplane, and Dracula movie... may he rest in peace  and still make everyone laugh upstairs.

Really sad news, seems like a real gentleman. I've never heard any bad press about him and his appearance hasn't changed in the last 50 years.

Can't wait to see re-runs of his movies over the next few weeks.

I'll never forget the first movie I watched with him in it was Airplane!
And that was the copy that had the boobs flash. That made for an intresting video to watch at the chrimtmas holidays in science!

A true legend, I will no doubt have a ay where I'll just watch the movies he's been in and laugh like I have done in the past.

RIP Leslie!! Get to the golden gates safely. Good luck we're all counting on you :)

So long, Leslie...we're all counting on you.

...Like that?
No, like that. :(

This thread has a duplicate over in the film and television subforum. As Nielsen was an actor, I feel that is the more appropriate place to discuss his death, and so I will lock this thread. Please continue the discussion in the other subforum.

'Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to stay on my toes.'

I hope he made a joke in complete deadpan just before dieing.

"Cheer up, Ed. This is not goodbye. It's just I won't ever see you again." -Lt. Frank Drebin

There is no more fitting quote from him for this moment.

He will be missed.

I can't believe I just read this...horrible news, and the world has lost another great one.

Thanks for the laughs, you will be missed.

RIP
