Rolex 24 hour Daytona

I have been meaning to ask for a while but would anybody be interested in running a long endurance race in summer that is styled around this prestigious event? I was thinking fully tuned R390 road cars as the Prototype cars, and cars such as the SLS, 458, F430 scuderia, M3, to be the GT cars. It would be a 100+ lap event to make it a real endurance and i was just curious as to whether anyone else has had the feeling to run this race on GT5. It feels sad that people run Le mans and Nurburgring style endurance races , but they forget about one of the most coveted events in the calendar. It's just a discussion now but if I can get enough support for it I am hoping to have it well run and organised for one weekend in the summer. All feedback is welcome, especially on which cars to have in it! Thankyou for reading this and i hope to race many of you in summer!

I would be interested Kartman, I saw PURE ran this a while back but I couldn't make the time. 2.4 hours (about 2 and a half) is a generally accepted time shortened 24 hour races.

For the Daytona Prototype class I'd look at the modern LMP's such as the 908, R10, R8 and maybe the Pescarolos. For GT the Grand-Am cars would be cool, RX8 LM, Corvette, 458 etc. Check around the internet and you'll find Grand-Am specs and cars.

Oh, and this needs to be moved to spot races mate

I would actually go as far as asking the PURE guys whether you could use their regs mate. PM'ing 'Wardez' would be the best place to start.

i've Pm'd him to see what he did and what cars he used etc. So it should be LMP's (preferably closed top, keep it as realistic as possible) and then GT cars. what cars should we use? the two ferrari's is definate i think, they are two of the fastest gt cars ever, The BMW is always in enduro races. i looked at the Grand-Am standings for Gt, and Porsche are top, with Mazda 2nd , then ferrari , vette then BMW. I would use the RUF RGT, but it has no rear aero tuning so it would be at a massive disadvantage, we have 2 ferrari's, we could include the vette (would kill tyres) and then we have the M3.

Are there any GT car's that you would like in it?

I think it's a great idea. And since you're thinking of doing it in the summer the race schedule shouldn't be much of a problem, although I think 24h is a bit harsh... My parents would kill me if I spent 24h in front of the TV, the 2.4h race sounds nice. For the cars you could include the ferrari's, vette, rx-8 and the m3, I don't think we would need more... Sign me in if you do the race! 👍
