Last years race was stunning, seeing a Porsche 996 GT3 come overall in first place. This year I think is gonna be better. Is anyone going?

I thought about going this year, especially with Team PTG fielding a few E46 M3s. But the truth is that Daytona "Prototypes" are a joke and over all speed is down --by a lot-- at the Rolex.

This makes it really a GT battle.. and while M3s and 911s and 360s going at it is cool, its just not a "must see live" proposition for me.

I will watch it on Speed, though.

i've been going to the 24 since the mid 80's and this has been the best yet! (although i could have done without all the rain and smoke from camp fires in the infield)

i'll agree the prototypes are much slower, but there are more of them and 45 out of 55 cars actually finished the race

as you may have heard by now - the #2 citgo of wallace, earnhart, and stewart led the race for 17 hours and fell out in the last 15 minutes to let the #54 pontiac pass in the last 10 minutes

and 2 GT3s placed 2nd and 3rd with only 6 seconds between them

i was skeptical about the new rolex series changes, but they seem to make for much more exciting endurance racing

No! I didn't here the final results. Well, that sucks! I watched it all day it was on yesterday, and for a few hours this morning, but I had to sleep and I missed the final laps.

Watch an ALMS race instead of a retarded GARRA one, you'll see what exciting endurance racing is.

I don't get why the most important cars in the field, the ugly Daytona Prototypes, should be only marginally faster than the GT and "SGS" cars, when they are actually faster. The #44 Orbit Racing GT3R came 2nd overall, in front of all but one DP. What's the deal here? Is that supposed to be good for the DPs, and GARRA in general? Especially when you consider that same car, and a bunch of others like it, will be lapping the slowest laps at Sebring when the ALMS gets their 12 hour race going.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with PunkRock. The DPs might be good for Joe Privateer, but let's face it, most people want to see ridiculously expensive and fast factory cars with near Formula 1 budgets.

I mean, look at those poor DPs. They look like kits cars for christsake. They struggle to pass GT cars on the super speedway. A GT car for cryin out loud. A GTS car would leave them for dead.

It's just not what it used to be. :(

This is what they call,"CHEAP RACING" Its not gonna be fast. And when I was at the race, most of the DP cars where flying and running some extremly good times. The Ganissi CompUSA car was quick, like the Brumo's cars.

i thought it always sucked that the gtp cars always broke down except for the manufacturer backed team that took their turn winning

as soon as a team would win, they'd stop after that year - like they proved their point or something

i've seen all kinds of racing, and i must admit, i find the slower races - the grand am cup, grand touring, etc. is some of the most fun to watch
