Yes they must.

I experienced this same thing today and we tried several things to work around the problem

-Reset the Room (no effect)
-Stay in pits before starting (no effect)
-Swapped between Single and Double rolling starts (no effect)

The only way to get around it is to hit "Start" then "Continue" and it will free your car up.

Please include this work around in an EDIT to the OP.

I am aware of the workaround and have been using it. I have edited the first post with the simple steps.

hello everyone,

i did software update,
then i get stuck at 74 mph,
some other cars are also stuck in front of you at same speed,

called sony ps3 1-800 customer support,
they claim no knowledge + no solution,

this is a glitch ............ actually a PIA ...............

It is a pain but there is a workaround. This issue should be corrected with the next update.

That's really awesome news. I was getting sick of having to press start twice in every countdown...
