Free Race/Hot Laps
Circuit: Amalfi Coast Full Reverse.
Cars: C425

Assists: Anything goes personal preference.
Transmission: Again personal preference.
Rules: Anything which invalidates your lap (exclamation mark next to time) is not allowed.
Tuning is allowed where the cars allow, you may discuss and share setups and setup tips.

PM me your best time, New Submission Format:
Name - Time - Car
Frizbe - 13:905 - VW Beetle

New submission format is to help streamline the results for me. Thank you.
you have until 11:59 PM MST (-7 GMT) on the 8th of February to do this. I will accept only one laptime to save my inbox from confusion of having more than one time from people. If you could also state in your final PM if you are using a pad or a wheel.

P.S. I found out that if you go into Multiplayer>Private Race and then set the AI cars to 7 you can run your own personalized Endurance race. Perfect for getting to know the track and it also fattens that wallet a bit ;)

Fixed... Until Frizbe can pop in and decide whether the 8th is acceptable.

EDIT: Frizbe, me boy, you have picked a real corker of a combo this time around. I will do my best to get a time in, as this is one of my favorite tracks.

;)

Yupp this one is a bit tricky... I'm happy for now I will see if I got some time to drive some more this weekend.. Still feel I am a good bit off the Leaderboard...

TBH not looking forward to this one. I'm not even certain I've posted a clean lap on this track, reverse or forward.

Edit....
Check that, thought he meant the 7.5-mile rally version. Thank god he doesn't :)

I always screw the date up I think I have gotten one week right so far. Thank you.

I like the rally version better for the sake of not having the curbs. I don't know how many races (particularly online) have been ruined by them.

I've figured out a little trick if you can pull it off, and it's a page straight from Takumi Fujiwara's drifting school.

There's a space between the rumble strip an the wall. Takumi Fujiwara. Need I say more?

Even drifting here is frustrating!!

Really!?

I was trying to get a good lap, but I was having so much fun drifting, I decided to give the grip driving amiss for a few. Awesome track for grip or drift, in my opinion.

;)

I think you're just crazy. I'll start practicing tonight, I haven't had a chance lately.

Oh, also I'm encountering a glitch, the little penalty sticker at the top is constantly on, it's tripped the moment I cross the start line, no matter what I do. Because of this, I'm only submitting a time that I'm absolutely certain is clean.

By the way, I'm aiming for a clean 1:03 time here.

Yeah this track is VERY strict when it comes to disqualifying a lap because of an error on the prior lap. Usually on any given track this only applies to maybe the final 3 or so corners prior to the start finish but not here. Based on the 40 or so laps I just completed today it looks like getting the "caution" symbol to pop up anywhere on the back half of the course will invalidate your next lap (meaning any corner past, and likely including, the 180 degree hairpin at the bottom of this image):

Sucks ostrich huevos I know :grumpy:.

BTW chromatic just noticed that we've both posted times fast enough to include ghosts, however one of them (ie not mine) is much closer to the top ;). Damn nice time I must say, so I'll just take comfort in the fact that I've currently posted the 4th fastest 22B hot lap.

Cheers icelt. Just finished doing some laps. Might try the Celica and Subaru next, may even carry on offline. ;)

I noticed on the online leaderbords many have the exact same weight, bhp , torque. They must be downloading a tune.

On the penalties. Watch out for one where you go over the crest part at perhaps the highest point on the track, there's a white line on the right thats very far from the wall that can catch you out. The car fits inside easily but you're well away from touching the wall.

De nada. And I mostly go by the sports theory you can't teach speed and apply it to racing; ie if your fast it doesn't matter if your times are known as most won't be able to get near them anyway. For me it kinda works the other way around as well, anything I post is just about the best I can do anyway so I don't feel there's much need to hide them... usually. Btw you're plenty quick ;)

That is likely true. I definitely tried out a couple of 22B store bought tunes instead of developing my own. The one I settled on was "MOJO C425." Of course should you, LJ or a few others try that one out my 4th best 22B standing will surely drop rapidly .

In this configuration I think you're referring to T2 or T3 right?

In addition Stig the game will DQ a lap for essentially any contact with a wall. It WILL allow the softest of love taps, and I mean Charmin soft, but it's definitely best to just plan on avoiding all contact.

I tried the guy who has the no.1 time on the track, his tune for that exact circuit in the MR-S. Done alot of laps, almost 20 and my time is 2-3 seconds slower than both of yours that I saw yesterday in the top 100. I violate most of the laps

I've surrendered the keys to my Toyota Yaris in favor of another car. The Yaris could put a quicker sector in the last half of the lap, but with my "gutter drift" rumble strip riding, I essentially deleted that lead.

Well, as long as I do not place last, this will be my personal victory.

I haven't tried that specific tune myself, but I do know from experience that some cars/setups just don't mesh with my driving style. So I'd suggest trying out another car, maybe the 22B one I mentioned even, and see if it works better for ya. Also take advantage of the "download ghost/replay" feature on the leaderboards. Sometimes just seeing how another driver is attacking the course will give you an "ah ha" moment.

On this course I was pretty dang slow to begin with as well until I realized that most of the corners can be cut, especially on the back half. Once I figured that out my times dropped immediately, then the toughest part was cutting the corners w/o touching the walls.

For this go I found not drifting to be much faster. I even double checked my drift score on my fast lap session and it's only like 700 pts or so. Just a thought.

I wasn't actually drifting, I was putting the inside of my tire on the inside of the rumble strip. It's going on the same philosophy as the gutter drift, by using the strip to hold the car in order to slightly increase the corner speed, but there are no actual drifts happening.

At the end of my 30 lap session, I had 15 points. In the Yaris.

Gotcha. Actually now that you describe it that way I used that technique as well, I just didn't know this was the term for it. Now I do 👍.

Yeah maybe but in other games where I've done 20-40 laps, some have done hundreds just to try and beat it or beat other lap times near yours. Not saying you would but people know what to beat and they spend days grinding and I'm not prepared to respond and do the same amount of laps.

I might have a look for that. Just improved my MR-S time. I tried the MR-S tune on there but did 2 tenths quicker with my own tune last night but caught a foul lap. Seems to be more a steering angle/type of wheel thing on the first left up the hill than a better tune.

Yeah its more top of a slope than a crest. Its on the right, after the second hill climb. My tyre just goes inside or on the line and triggers the mark but not even close to glancing the wall.

time submitted. i will admit forza has taken a back seat to mass effect 2 lately, but i did run some laps yesterday, and some more tonight. i wanted to get a time in no matter what this week. The car i used definitely wasnt the best, but i wanted to see what it could do, and it actually somewhat surprised me. :)

i dont know how many times i rolled my car trying to take took much curb thru that little tunnel before the sharp left hander
