Round tables and the G25..

Im about to buy the G25 for GT5P and GT5 (when it's released).
However, i dont think i want to buy a cockpit or frame for it, but i dont want it on my lap either.

So i have one option left for now, and it's a table like this:

It's round.. is there a chance you can mount the G25 on such a table? or is that simply not possible and should i go look for normal, straight edge tables?

I don't think a round table will work - the clamps will not hold properly. Try & get a solid, heavy, straight-edged table.

Yes, the G25 mounts on the wheel will clamp down on a table like that, the shifter will also be mountable next to the wheel. I'm not sure if it will be sturdy enough though.

Yeah and a coffee table is too low. Not enough space for your legs to go under for the pedals and if you plan on sitting on the couch you would have to slouch down maybe a heavy type of TV tray but if you have to buy one then might as well buy a wheel stand pro or the Fanatec version.

if i was you i would wait it out rumor has it logitech g27 will be released sometime soon then i would make your decision
Wait for a wheel that has never even been announced, to see if it addresses a problem that almost no one has?

:odd::dopey:

Anyway...

The main points have already been covered. Table to round and table too low.

There are some fairly affordable options though. You might want to check out the cheap cockpits thread. It isn't all cockpits, but many a simple stand in there as well.

[EDIT]

Don't want to imply that I doubt a new Logitech wheel is coming. It just hasn't actually been officially announced, and who knows how far off in the distance it still is. Plus I highly doubt it will address the issue of a low round table anyway.

I have a wheelstand pro for my G25, but prior to purchasing it, this is what I used:

It's an old computer desk I found at a local thrift store for $10.
It really did a great job, but took up too much space in my bedroom (or so I thought). I wound up spending $179 for the wheelstand because it was smaller and could be moved out of the way. Don't get me wrong, it has been great and I really like it, but I wish now that I had just stuck with the desk :indiff:

Maybe an old computer desk like this one would work for you if you have the space. The keyboard tray was missing on the one I have, which was perfect, as it allows you to clamp the G25 in the center of the desk.
