I have recently started having trouble getting a connection to my wifi. Sometimes it says there is another device already with this IP address. Other times it just wants me to reset my router which doesn't fix it. I have 10 devices at any given time trying to cennect to my router. Is there a limit on how many can connect to it.

I have a linksys router. I have it set for 30 connections. I also have a repeater that boosts the single for me. I have plaster walls so i need something else for my apple devices to get a signal. It seems like apple products kind of have a week card in them or something. My laptop and the 360s do fine but the ipads, iphones and macbooks have trouble getting a signal without the repeater.

This problem whough was happening before I started using the repeater so i don't think that's the issue.

Sometimes reseting the router will fix it and sometimes it won't.
Is there a setting i should look for in the router that may enable more IP addresses to be given?

Or maybe another idea I could try?

You could look and see if anything else is connecting to your router(See active connections to your wifi).

Download inssider and see what other networks are nearby. Pick a channel that isn't being used.

Yes there is a limit as to how many devices can connect to the router. Check your router's setup and increase it, if necessary.

Having said that, the routers I've seen default to "all available", or 253. But it's worth checking, anyway.

How old is your router?

Have you checked for a firmware update for it?

Are any of your devices set to a static ip address? What could be happening is such an example:

I have my laptop set with a static ip of 192.168.1.100 (.100 is usually where a router will start handing out DHCP addresses)

My laptop is turned off. I turn on another device that isn't set to a static ip. My kindle fire for example. It connects to the wireless and grabs the ip address of 192.168.1.100. I boot my laptop up and it tries to get 192.168.1.100 only to find it's being used.

Not granted your probably not using static ips, but generally at my job (manage IT for 50+ sites) when I see a problem like this it's usually a sign of the router going bad.
