I know this has probably been brought up before in the GT5 board and if not here then in the GT4 board.

Do you think that despite the small number of cars in this class there should be an RR Cup just like the FF, FR, 4WD and MR ones?

I mean I know there are very few RR cars but I wouldn't mind racing a RUF RGT and all the other RR cars in a race.

And what about Supercharged cars. There aren't many of them either but it would still be nice a race dedicated to them. Turbo and NA aren't the only aspirations a car can have!

So please tell me yes or no and give me a reason why for the following 2 questions.

1. Should there be an RR Cup? Y/N? Why/Why not?
2. Should there be a Supercharger Cup? Y/N? Why/Why not?

Thanks.

Yes...to both, I totally agree with you on this one. I enjoy racing RR cars ( Fiat 500.) And the Supercharged cars should be more appreciated. I really enjoy Minis, and to be able to race those cars in Specified races( other than manufacturers' cups, and such,) would be excellent. :)

I'm all for it. They belong in GT5 as much as the other drivetrain cups and aspiration cups. I don't know how a RR cup would be fair, though. You probably would need to use a Ruf to win, as trying to win with a Fiat 500 is near suicide. :scared:

It would be okay if it were GT3 style. In GT3, they gave you at least a beginners, normal, and professional version of each cup. I was pissed that they only had the FF cup in the "Beginners Hall" in GT4, especially since the FFs are better to drive in this version of GT (traction problems notwithstanding).

Thus, you could have beginner's RR (low hp), professional RR (porsches and such) and extreme RR (porsche racers).

SC cup would be nice... if they'd let you put an SC on more cars.

Good call, niky. I was thinking about how an RR race would work when there are basically two classes of RR cars; really slow and really fast.

Supercharged: Sure, why not? It'd be nice if supercharger tuning was more developed in GT5 though; allowing choice of the various types, and in several stages. GT4's simple "supercharger" option seems like an afterthought.

The hp does pose a bit of a problem.

Fiat 500 - 30hp.
RUF RGT - 550hp.

If you put them together in a race well you know what type of car would win.

An RR event wouldn't be a great idea, though a Porsche/Ruf one make series and a rear engined Fiat event would be good alternatives. As for the supercharger event, that's a good idea. Otherwise, there's the option of merging them with turbo cars to create a 'Turbo and Supercharger event' or 'Forced Induction Series'.

Yes to both questions.

Why? Gets back to my favourite rant about the GT series in general: too Japanese-centric!! :yuck:

There would most likely be more cars in GT5 with RR/Supercharged engine layouts, by default, if PD actually did some research and gave a much broader (and therefore more representative) account of the history of the motorcar from it's inception right up until today! Heaven forbid...

I definitely agree with the S/C Cup idea (PD could add stuff like Grand Prix GTPs, SVT Cobras and maybe even a prewar Bentley or two to fill out the 20 car grids along with the S/C cars already in GT4), but the RR Cup might be a bit tougher to set up, fairness wise. If an RR Cup was included, however, here's what I would add to the mix already in GT4:
-Smart (ForTwo and RoadsterCoupe variants)
-pre-VW Skodas
-the Tucker :D
-Abarth's giant-slayer Fiat 600
-newer Alpine models ('80s and '90s turbo V6s)
-some Tatras ('Da, the motor iz in the trunk, commrade!')
-a brace of Corvairs (incl. the Yenko Stinger)
-VW Transporters (T1, T2 and T3)
-VW Type 1500, probably the fastback
-BMW 700
-NSU TT
